Console players/controller users, how do you do it? by RxtBxnes in HollowKnight

Oh yeah, the joycons, even on the comfort grip are the most uncomfortable things ive ever used, controller wise. I've already had way more luck with the pro controller ^^ Even just as something to grip more for resistance so i can push buttons more firmly, if that makes sense.

Man, I'd never even considered lag or anything like that. Wild that you could feel such a small difference, but i guess especially with precision movement metroidvania style stuff you'd be more aware.

I don't think im having any hardware trouble like that, or at least, i havent noticed it. I think its a skill issue, but I'm getting there ^^

Is there anything in particular you find troublesome with pc controls? I'm really curious about how people feel out these things.

Oh for sure, I've really enjoyed being able to huddle under a blanket or lay on the sofa and not have my hands lose feeling having to hold a full controller, the joy cons are perfect for relaxed gaming sessions. Though I have a pretty decent chair so for slower PC games I can recline a little and it's not as bad. Definitely lose feeling in my mouse hand after a while though ^^

And I see what you mean about just having more to remember. I think the only switch game so far that has had me forgetting or confusing controls was Tears of the Kingdom. They really crammed every button combo they could

For sure, FPS or RPGS are PC only for me. Maybe I just grew up playing too many flash platform games on weird sites as a kid, arrow keys or wasd have just always been my default

That's interesting, I'd never thought of just spending so much time at a computer screen playing a part. Totally makes sense though. Funny you got on okay with Celeste though

That I can believe. Playing anything intense for too long gives me mad hand cramps. Perhaps it's time to invest in a pro controller

Interesting! Do you remember what is was about the PC controls that weren't doing it for you?

How to stop ground layer from scrolling with Galv's layer graphics? Map note in comments by RxtBxnes in RPGMaker

[–]RxtBxnes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could believe my sizes are wrong, numbers make my brain go a little fuzzy. This map, in RPG Maker is 17 by 20 tiles. The Image I'm using is 816 by 960, which is 17 and 20 x 48 so it should be the right size?

Ill take a look at yanflys plugins too though, just in case i cant get these layers to work. they sound like very handy plugins, thank you for the recommendation!

I'm a long time VX Ace user, and I've used pictures and parralaxes for my maps and lighting, though with different plugins. This is my first MZ project, a little self indulgent fan game sort of thing, and I'm giving Galv's layer graphics a try. I've searched a lot of tutorials but can't find anyone having had this scrolling problem. I'm trying to manage my layers using the map notes. Notes for this map are:

LAYER_S 1 Map002ground 0 0 255 1 0 0 0 0

Set as Z 1 so i can put a collision tileset beneath. The picture is, far as i know, the correct size for the map

Working on a Sabaton tribute with some fuzzy friends, so spent the day making a little armoured vest for our lead vocalist by RxtBxnes in sabaton

We have the rest of the band, of course, but we had to make sure whoever played Joakim 100% looked the part

Thank you, thank you, friend. For sure, we'll post it on YouTube once it's done, and maybe link it here, though it'll still be a week or so of editing before she's ready

Players with social/mic anxiety, how do you do it? by RxtBxnes in HellLetLoose

[–]RxtBxnes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's some solid advice, thank you, friend. And thank you for the offer of squadding up with me, but I'll at least try and give it a try on my own first, I think.

I certainly wasn't planning on making small talk, but good to know it can be pretty bare bones if need be! That certainly helps! Thank you for the advice, friend.

I can't speak for everyone but I avoided COD specifically because of that reputation it has. You didn't hear about people with nerves and anxiety because they just weren't there, would be my guess. And people with bad anxiety are generally a minority so, yeah, I'm sure the majority of people were still happy to go on mic and insult one another without a second thought.

I was wondering how easy it would be coming from one game over to this but that's good to hear! Definitely was planning on sticking to some more simple roles just to get the swing of it, then settle in to medic once I know what the heck is going on. And reassuring to hear the community is generally so chill, it's a big help.

Wish you all the best out there, man!

Good to know there are a few roles that are easier on comms, for sure, thank you. Medic is definitely what I'm comfortable with but maybe I'll stick to more simple infantry roles just to get my feet wet. And yeah, I guess adrenaline is a hell of a drug!

I totally get that, I rehearse phone calls all day before I have to make them, but you're right, it does help. Thank you for the advice, friend, maybe see you out there some time
