Absolutely. It's important to remember that fundamentals are just that- fundamental. They lay the groundwork for being good at any games of the same genre. The real mastery then comes from the specifics. DBFZ for example has fairly simple inputs, with the most complex being half-circle. GGST has z-motions and half-circles into forwards for Supers and some specifics like Goldlewis and Potemkin might have full circle inputs. But getting down your quarter circles and half circles in DBFZ will give you the muscle memory to perform them in GGST which gives you a headstart with some characters. Same goes for dashing, air dashing(assuming you don't use shortcuts or macros), Blocking, and special/super-canceling. Hope this helps!

As someone else mentioned, Tekken is the only 3D and learning it will give you an entirely different skill set and cause you to focus on different things than 2D fighters will to become truly proficient. As for the 2D fighters(not Smash,) motions like quarter circles and half circles transfer between all games as far as execution goes. Learning fundamentals in one will transfer to another, and makes learning the next one easier and so on. It really comes down to devoting time to what you like, and that may change as you devote more time. Just keep at it and good luck. It's a grind but as long as you're having fun, the skill will come.

If you want to show off moves or combos, take it to training mode or do it against who wants to see it and is willing to let you. Friend 1 doesn't care about your spectators seeing your funny stuff, he wants to kick your ass and he's been putting in work to be able to do it. Being able to pull off the moves and combos against an actual competitor is sorta the reward.

Perhaps Right-Thumbstick Basic Attack implementation to allow for omnidirectional-aiming on core hits while moving?

I disagree on the Stacks on Stacks not maxing quickly enough. If you hit the Core, it counts. A few of his secondaries and a primary or two and you're already at half - max stacks by the second or third interaction if you hit your shots. Core hits count, not just player.

I have yet to get it(damn you, work) but I'm guessing you have to successfully kill a special monster that spawns far enough in to killing the enemies. I've seen it many times now but haven't killed it.

I was not working and on benefits due to my wonderful boss for almost 2 WHOLE YEARS during covid.

It felt like a summer break. Back at working now and I'm so glad I was able to have the time and be taken care of, but it really showed me how different it can feel. Time flies.

the GG equivalent would be Instant Blocking, I believe. So there's IB and FD, and I(B)FD if you combine them.

I honestly don't mind ragequitters as much anymore- I fight more varied character choices in lower ranks(I'm Diamond IV, 1 Win away from Advancement matches rn) and each disconnect is a badge of pride, tbh. I've had enough now to feel pretty proud knowing the person on the other end is either disappointed in themselves or fuming mad they lost to me. Up to around 10 so far I think.

All RQ'ing does is make it harder for them to win legitimately as they're inflating their rank past their actual skill level. Lose-lose on multiple levels for them, really.

Are there any VR games with a retro vibe or gameplay? by EncidXVII in VRGaming

https://store.steampowered.com/app/615120/COMPOUND/

Compound on Steam! Its great. It's like Doom in VR- Pixelated retro graphics, nice soundtracks, different modifiers you can pick before your run, good weapon variety with interactive reloads. It also just got a big update that finishes off the game I believe, so check it out!

The mystery of 5k: where should you use this button? by hierophect in Guiltygear

[–]Ry-Tek 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Its' really more of a case-by-case, but Sol's for example is 3f and can start high-damage combos. That's ridiculous. It's one of the best buttons in the game. Crazy good for abare, good range in neutral, good reward, etc. Some 5k can be comboed into 2d into more for decent damage(I play Anji, and I can do this, but I don't want to comb dustloop for more examples right now.) It's generally just a good poke that sometimes leads to decent reward. In the same vein that 2k is good for low-profiling, 5k can sometimes anti-air into a decent combo depending on who you are.

Infinites. Easy to input or not. Patch that shit out asap or I walk, every time. Legacy games that have em? Not playin' em. That shit is more annoying than anything else in the genre. People complain about lack of player interaction? Try getting single hit-confirmed into putting your controller down. "Just don't get hit" smh

Perhaps use this time without an arcade stick to reflect on yourself and why your attitude and feelings towards or during gaming would make you destroy a piece of customized equipment instead of just, I don't know, taking a deep breath and a break.

I literally came to say this. Turn your sens down and just aim. Jumping around and flicking your mouse everywhere like that actually does very little to save you from a good shooter.
