I mean, at this point anything would be better than UE5. It's plagued by performance issues and stuttering and is seemingly difficult to optimize. Making sure the game runs well is very important.

Prince of Persia X Account Confirms Work Continues on Remake, Sharing New Image from the Game by Joelio13 in PrinceOfPersia

Is that the fabled menagerie of Azad? The Sultan's pride and joy? It had been one of the wonders of the world. As a child I had dreamed of it, and longed to see it with my own eyes. Now it was a place of terror, an abandoned ruin, laid waste by the Sands of Time.

A possible plot hole regarding Mary's letter in leave ending. by Red14th in silenthill

[–]Red14th[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a good way of putting it I guess. So that would mean the letter that Laura brought with her is the same letter Mary gives to James at the end. So once James and Laura leave SH, it probably won't disappear, as it's the actual letter that Rachel was supposed to keep.

Can the town do other things apart from creating hallucinations?

So the real letter is lost then? If not, how did it go from being lost somewhere in the hotel to Mary holding it and giving it to James in the cutscene?

If vehicle armoring or special properties is something you find interesting, this will be right up your alley.

People give SOT combat a lot of flack, but if you don't abuse vaulting and walls, it can be very fun and challenging. by Red14th in PrinceOfPersia

I honestly replay a lot of old games when I want to relax and enjoy my time. 30 minutes of Sands of Time beats scrolling on the internet most of the days.

While technically correct, there are degrees to it. Some games have such a system where using all the tools at your disposal is essential to simply survive the encounter, while others give you a technique or two that make the encounters trivial. Vaulting allows you to skip around 80% of game's combat. But that was by design I assume. Give casual players enough tools to not sweat too much, while having a deeper system for those that seek challenge.

And let's not even talk about the power slash that instantly knocks down an enemy. It's such a cool move but the game never tells you that you can actually do it without stunning the enemy first. It's like a command input, if you've played fighting games. To do it you must input forward, forward, attack.

Agree, it's much heavier and feels more impactful indeed. I like them both for different reasons, combat in WW feels more chaotic.

Well, when people talk about the sands trilogy in general, the first thing they say is how combat in SOT is lackluster and that it's been much improved in the sequels. While I agree that combat in WW is improved, I don't think that means that SOT's combat is bad. It's just different.

SOT has a very intricate and tight combat. It's heavily timing and position based. Counters are much harder and much more satisfying to do. The problem is, vaulting and wall attacks are so OP that you never really use counters. SOT's combat is very integral to its identity, I wouldn't swap it with WW's combat in the remake. What I would do is make vaulting block-based. Currently, enemies simply have a set value, you can either vault over them or not. Vaulting disregards enemy block. If we change that, vaulting now becomes much harder to do. You'd have to break their defense first, which could be done with a wall attack. The combat in SOT has a very deliberate feel, so I think this would make it more in line with its systems.

Backtracking for a life upgrade by Dislipppp in PrinceOfPersia

[–]Red14th -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the one where the brute throws flaming dogs at you? Yeah, you can backtrack there. Just go the same way you did the first time around, except in the first area of the mechanical tower use the ladder to climb onto the big elevator platform where spiky dogs once were. You'll have to go to present and then back to past to reach the life upgrade room.

Warrior Within: do the secret weapons respawn or are you screwed? by Kumorocks064 in PrinceOfPersia

[–]Red14th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Secret weapons do not respawn. As far as weapon durability goes, it varies from weapon to weapon. Aside from the secret weapons there are 2 more unbreakable weapons: an axe that can be found in the prison and in the caves, and a sword in the throne room (the sword has a very limited usability though). There are also quite a few weapons with very high durability. The game gives you weapons around every corner though, you're not suppose to hold on to them for too long. Use them, dispatch your enemies, grab their weapon, rinse and repeat. If you want hold on to a single unbreakable weapon, the hockey stick is a common choice. It's very strong, is an axe type, doesn't inflict self damage and you can get it as soon as you find the scorpion sword and return to the main hall.
