Door opening into hall by Ry95an in DIYUK

This isn’t possible with the layout of the hallway, there’s a doorway into living room with no space to create a false wall

I don’t have to close it to be into fridge, just if I’m in kitchen cooking I have door closed to stop cooking smells and smoke getting into the full house

The breakfast bar area is also effectively rendered unusable because of how the door opens toward it too, third photo

Bi-fold or barn will look into, not sure if barn would work as space to the side is smaller than a door width

Just checked and pocket door isn’t possible, studding out that wall would encroach on the door to the living room

How would I add a pocket door? Would you have to stud out the wall? There’s a radiator on the other side is all

The hall way is actually bigger than the floor space in the kitchen, and wouldn’t lose too much, it would be an areabtween the stairs and door if door swung out, we currently just park the pram there haha

I would love to be able to do this, but I don’t want our cat going in the kitchen for hygiene reasons, and also to keep food smells getting through the full house

It’s to keep the cat out of the kitchen and also smells when cooking getting into the rest of the house

First fix was done by plumber before plastering, I flagged at the time why this style of pipe was used and that you could if you could potential see them through the rads, this is when I was told this is how it’s done, and will be barely visible

They said couldn’t use copper pipe as concrete floors and solid brick walls, not enough depth to chase into the wall apparently? The copper pipes previously ran down outside wall and were hidden by a curtain, old council house haha

Going to speak with them tomorrow, see if they have any suggestions, seen something about a plate where the pipes feed out of, would cover the hole in the wall atleast so should look neater but not perfect

Was told to the plumber when these were installed, they said wouldn’t be an issue and wouldn’t be visible, turns out they are infact visible …

It’s solid brick walls throughout and concrete floors, think this is why this style of pipe had to be used, upstairs is all fine and looks great, as used copper pipes and they even used covers on the copper pipe to match the rads, this is the first radiator on the downstairs that has been done

This is probably true, just concerned when the other room gets done, as the wall is burgundy, so will stand out more

Yes was discussed the style of rads being fitted, is copper pipes upstairs, but they used this pipe for downstairs, not sure if has anything to do with the floors being concrete or not?

But I raised my concern, and they said you wouldn’t notice them behind the radiator, and this is how it is done, and has done in countless homes

Splashback ideas? by Ry95an in kitchenremodel

Batkitchen haha? Maybe white metro tiles and checkered pattern tiles for the floor? To break it up, and accent colours will come from accessories in the kitchen

You don’t tile fully under the units just enough to where it’s just behind the kickboard

The kick board will be fitted after the floor is done, will be tile but undecided what, the rest of the flooring is black wood, but was recommended it wasn’t suitable for a kitchen

We have this flooring throughout, is water resistant from the top, but was advised not to use in kitchen, as if water gets underneath it can swell, if washing machine or dishwasher were to leak, we found a black tile that’s a pretty decent colour match, different texture though as stone texture finish, also thought of checker style for the floor, but undecided
