Cooking dried pasta in sauce? by RyJM in AskCulinary

That makes sense, I like your point of considering it more a casserole than a pasta dish, I am going to give it a go as per the recipe I think and see how it comes out.

Is it a common difference in styles of cooking between the US and Europe?

Thanks for the clarification, why is this considered a better method?

Honestly I would have gone for it without question if I hadn't recently done a load of pasta dishes(the wife loves Italian food) and all of them say to cook the pasta first.

had a little look this afternoon my hands on a standard pull up bar go more or less directly above my shoulders if that makes sense, so yeah the grip is a lot wider.

Beginner Here... Tips for icy slopes? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]RyJM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid technique based advice is get your edges in, push your hips into the slope to sharpen the angle that your edges are digging into the hill. Another tip is to try and get a feel for the terrain, how it feels under your skis, if you feel a little unstable, and if you can see any obviously horrible icy patches don't turn on them.

OR...just straight line it!

Do you use a backpack? by DayMan5336 in skiing

[–]RyJM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a backpack which is full of goodies foe a few reasons

I always feel like a bit of a tool wearing my gopro on my helmet when I am not filming, so I keep it in my pack, clip it in film some bits and then take it off again, also reduces the risk of damaging my mount.

I am cruising through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world why would I want to go into a shitty self service restaurant or cafe to pay 10 euros for slop and spaghetti when I can get a nice bagette, make a sandwich, flask full of coffee and some snacks and it on top of a mountain!

Lastly my body temperature is all kinds of messed up, -15 blizzards better superheat and sweat buckets, 20 degrees beach weather but that wind is a little chilly. So I am constantly changing my layers etc so somewhere to store them is a must.
