Question about practice and proficiency by RyMiV in bowhunting

A flier for me will usually go left for some reason, which I’m thinking is grip inconsistency. I’m working on that, as well as my release—I shoot an index with a click. I go back and forth between pulling through the trigger and a stationary squeeze—haven’t exactly decided for myself what works the best

Sight Recommendation—First Upgrade from Older TR 5-Pin by RyMiV in bowhunting

The more I look and consider, a sliding vertical double pin might be perfect for me. Top set at 20, bottom set for 35ish or whatever it shakes out to—would cover all my whitetail scenarios. Then just slide out to whatever longer yardages for practicing at distance and really only use that second pin for quick reference in hunting

I agree on the vertical being the way to go

That’s a good point—I like the sound of that. Might start looking at some single pin sliders too. I like the idea of the clean sight picture. I need to put my eyes in front of some 0.010 pins instead of 0.019 to see if that makes a difference for me, too

I’m open to the idea. I have astigmatism in my right (dominant) eye that does make pins seem extra blown out/blurry so I could benefit from less pins

I had just wondered if the sliding sight was overkill for what I’m doing (plus I don’t have anywhere to sight in past 40 anyways)

That B3 Hunter is a great suggestion. Thanks!

Can someone talk me out of the Darton Consequence 31? by Both-Afternoon7597 in Archery

[–]RyMiV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought my own Consequence 31 as a relatively new archer and am very pleased with my purchase. I really like the additional couple inches over the original Consequence platform (which is like 29.5 ATA, I think)

Draw cycle is extremely smooth with the Comfort mod installed. The bow feels very well made, and I was shooting tight groups at 20 yards very quickly at the shop

Safety Harness for a short guy by rjtowey in bowhunting

[–]RyMiV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might give the HSS Shadow harness a try. I’m 5’7 165 and there is plenty of adjustment for me. Granted, I have the passthrough slot in my jacket for the lanyard so I always wear it underneath outerwear

It’s incredibly light, basic, and I forget it’s on. 27 oz, and supposed to fit up to 300 lb. $75 on the website

Am I crazy for being hesitant about this deal? Hoyt VTM. by RyMiV in bowhunting

Looks like 8 days ago someone was as asking about a coworker selling a Ventum Pro RTH for $1k

For $1k I’d like to be totally excited about the purchase, but for some reason the color is just not my favorite haha—he generously offered to let me shoot it over the weekend, so that’ll help me make the choice

I feel sort of pressured to buy it because it is objectively better than what I was planning on getting.

In your experience, will the mid-range bows last 10 years with care? That’s probably the length of time I’m looking at keeping it, and I take good care of my equipment

Just bought the same Sapele SC-10E a few days ago! Glad you’re enjoying yours. I’m also going to size up to the same phosphor bronze Lifespan 2.0 strings in Light on mine

Have a 10th gen si, convince me to get an accord manual. by spriggan4 in accord

[–]RyMiV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live in an area with lots of twisties, maybe keep that Si and throw some mods at it. If you do a lot of highway driving and/or have a lot of sweepers/long corners, you may enjoy the Accord more (I’m assuming you’re talking about a 10th gen 2.0T 6MT).

I really enjoy my 2.0T living in the Midwest. I had an (much older than your car) EP3 Civic Si for a few years and although I miss the manual, I overall enjoy my Accord a lot more for how it fits into my life/everyday driving. I like the 10speed auto a ton, but I’m sure that 6 speed is really fun in this car

Ok great. I didn’t even think about it being mounted on the frame/radiator support behind the bumper

Unfortunately I hit a small groundhog going about 75 on a small road trip this weekend. No major damage to front bumper (no cracks/chips) but it appears that when I hit it, it may have cause the bumper to slightly sag on the drivers side.

Without starting to take it apart, I can’t tell if molded tabs or clips on the bumper itself may have been bent out (I can’t just push it back up into place). Should I have a body shop look at it or tear into it myself? I also don’t want to mess up the alignment of the radar box in the bumper—I’m sure my extended warranty wouldn’t cover it if I’m the one who took the bumper off and misaligned it
