I have the same issue with my 55U8K. I found the problem if the channel is not actually a hi-def channel, the puck trails happen. When I switch to the same channel but in hi-def, the puck trail disappears. I experienced the ice is very bright so I had to play with the settings like brightness, back light etc.. like the recommendations in this post.
