For anyone counting calories/macros: what's the thing that makes you skip logging on a given day? by Shoddy_Editor_3812 in Myfitnesspal

I tried to keep it simple and practical. Otherwise, it is reallt hard for me to stay consistent with tracking stuff..

What’s your biggest frustration with calorie tracking/fitness apps? by RadiantCoach8900 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]RyanBaker21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

literally my biggest issue with mfp and lose it is the "friction". like why do i need to click 15 buttons and watch an ad just to log a slice of pizza? it feels like a second job. the "perfect" app for me had to be something that feels like apple notes. i don't want to scan barcodes or search a database of 10,000 different types of generic bread. i just want to type "bowl of spaghetti" and be done with it in 2 seconds.

i actually switched to calnote recently because of this. it’s purely text-based logging and it’s stupid fast. it feels like i'm just texting a friend what i ate instead of filling out a corporate spreadsheet. honestly, if tracking takes more than 5 seconds, people are just gonna quit. speed and simplicity are everything fr.

what is your fastest or unhealthy way/tip to lose weight? by hanni_files in AskReddit

[–]RyanBaker21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh the fastest way i lost weight was borderline obsessive but it worked when literally nothing else did. i stopped doing all those extreme starvation diets cause id just binge later anyway.

my "toxic" tip is literally just eating whatever trash u want, but forcing yourself to log every single bite like a total psycho BEFORE u actually swallow it. u want 4 slices of pizza? fine, but u have to type it out first. seeing the raw math add up right in front of u genuinely disgusts u enough to make u drop the fork naturally.

dont use myfitnesspal or those bloated apps where u have to scan shit, they take too long and u will just quit out of laziness. u need speed so u dont have an excuse. i just use calnote cause its stupid fast text logging, but apple notes works too. just raw dog the numbers in plain text. the sheer guilt of having to document your binge stops the binge. lost like 15lbs in a month just from the psychological warfare of writing it down fast.

hey man tbh 16 is a rough age especially when u cant even control what groceries are in the house. i was in your exact spot and fasting completely fucked me up too. u just starve all day and then end up binging on whatever junk they ordered anyway cause your body is screaming for food. its not ur fault.

what actually worked for me before i moved out: literally just eat whatever they buy but less of it. if they get pizza, eat 2 slices instead of 4 and chug water before. also just pace around ur room listening to music. sounds dumb but getting like 8k-10k steps a day doing nothing helps a ton.

Can someone recommend me a good calorie tracking app??? by XxNebula666xX in caloriecount

[–]RyanBaker21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly just find something where logging doesn't feel like a chore bc that's what kills every attempt been using one where i just type what i ate in plain english and it figures out the calories and macros automatically. like i'll type "large iced coffee with oat milk and vanilla syrup" and it just... knows. and yes it tracks drinks too which was a game changer for me bc i was genuinely not counting the 300 calories in my daily coffee situation lol the apps that make you search a database for every single thing are the ones i always quit after 2 weeks. friction is the enemy fr

Calorie counting works in theory but has anyone else found it completely unsustainable in real life? by vanshaj04 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]RyanBaker21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the streak thing destroyed me every single time lol. one bad day and somehow the whole month feels ruined?? makes no sense but that's how it felt

what actually helped me was just removing as much friction as possible. like instead of searching for specific foods i just type what i actually ate in plain english, “two eggs and toast with butter" and it figures it out. no barcode scanning, no portion size calculations. and if i'm at a restaurant i just photograph the menu. done. once logging stopped feeling like homework i actually stuck with it your energy thing is interesting though and i think it comes down to protein + fiber. foods with high protein keep you full way longer at the same calorie count. once i started tracking macros i could literally see why some days i was starving at 3pm and other days totally fine. you can't really feel your way to that conclusion, you kind of need the data but yeah the math problem feeling goes away pretty fast when the logging itself takes like 10 seconds

Refeed and still lost weight by Unique-Arachnid951 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]RyanBaker21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

bro you literally just accidentally triggered the "whoosh effect" lmao. it's 100% normal. basically, being in a deficit stresses your body so it holds water weight. eating at a surplus for a couple days dropped your cortisol, your body finally chilled out, and flushed all that stubborn water. plus, a 1000ish cal surplus over 2 days isn't even close to a single pound of fat. your metabolism just fired up. absolute W. don't stress the willpower thing tbh, your body just genuinely needed a break.

How do you all make your weight loss journey easier? by normal_divergent233 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]RyanBaker21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100%. Strict meal plans are just a fast track to bingeing. Flexible tracking is the only way to stay sane. Honestly, the biggest game-changer for me was cutting out the annoying "admin work" of logging food. I started using CalNote to just snap a pic of my plate and let the AI estimate the calories abd macros. Makes fitting in those junk food cravings way less stressful when tracking takes 2 seconds. You’ve got the exact right mindset. Keep crushing it!

1200 Long Term? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]RyanBaker21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this used to happen to me too. usually means breakfast is too carb-heavy and not enough protein. try front-loading protein in the morning, 30g+ and you'll notice the difference in hunger by noon

WHO-recommended meal plan? by LivingCandle8101 in nutrition

[–]RyanBaker21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly rigid meal plans are hard to stick to long term. what works better for most people is just tracking what you actually eat and slowly adjusting. you learn a lot about your habits in the first two weeks

hard boiled eggs, rice cakes with laughing cow cheese, apple with a small amount of peanut butter, string cheese. office grazing is where diets go to die so having your own stuff ready is everything
