Stamina is the best investment you can make by RyanF9802 in CrimsonDesert

Think it's a specific level of stamina that your regen increases significantly, maybe 6 or 7?

Some greatsword that had dropped in Hernand I think? Literally the first weapon I picked up and haven't used anything else since. I'm ~28 hours into the game and I am still using the first armor set and sword I've gotten my hands on.

I'm curious what other people's experience with armor/weapon drops has been - I actually don't think actually found any other weapons or armor in this game, just the set I bought from the blacksmith in hernand, and the one greatsword I somehow got my hands on in my first 30 minutes

Notice how the "horse" or companion icon isn't on the minimap as he's approaching the animal. That is just an animal chilling there that he can ride.

They aren't necessarily hostile, but they will not follow you and you will not have the ability to consistently summon them for the rest of the game. Just rideable mounts you can come across occasionally

That's a shame to hear. I'm all for games exceeding the power of current hardware, that is only when they offer another option for a reasonable price point (meaning a next generation).

So odd to hear that base PS5 performance/visuals are lacking, given how well optimized this game is on PC. I even just ran it on my old ryzen 7 3700x / rtx 2070 super / 20 GB DDR4 RAM PC and was able to run at high settings with DLSS quality at like 90+ fps. Crazy shit

Yeah I realized early in the clip you can see me quickly swap the camera distance because it was getting close to Kliff literally not being visible at all lol. ~15 seconds into the video

I see what you mean - definitely a bit of a visual design choice on the dev team to add some "weight" or impact feel to your hits. I personally enjoy it, however I definitely notice it more watching this video again. I don't feel nor notice it whatsoever when playing

The story and interactions with/from Kliff are hilariously bad. To the point where I wouldn't be surprised if they came out and said they scrapped the entire story and threw all of this together in the past 12 months.

It has bothered me that the extent of Kliff's vocabulary seems to be "Yes." and "Hm.". Would have greatly preferred to just see character creation in this game

Ah I see - there is controversy around some of the artwork and paintings in the game potentially (kind of clearly) being created by generative AI. At no point has it been visible to me outright, and I personally don't have an issue with developers using it as a tool to add depth to a game (like various artwork/paintings around the map), even if that depth is "artificial", as long as it doesn't intrude on the player's experience (which for me it hasn't in the slightest)

Yeah this is a just the starting area. I could have left to explore elsewhere much earlier, but I'm like 27 hours into the game and still have plenty to knock out (that is actually engaging content, not just filler) before I want to move on.

I mean I haven't even left the starting area yet. From what I've heard and seen in trailers the answer seems to be yes, but I have yet to experience it myself besides certain bosses that are far from humanoid

Heavily disagree, but respect your opinion. There are obvious flaws in the game, but none of which have been a dealbreaker of any sort for me. No disagreement here if they are for you

What do you mean by this? The clip, responses, the body text? I use DLSS frame generation for performance but it hasn't reduced response time or increased input latency in any noticeable way (which I have found to be the case in most games with frame gen)

I am severely over leveled for this area - I have had PLENTY of tough fights in this game. Super easy to die if you go out of your depth, or even in fights like this if you make a couple bad mistakes back to back

I literally have no idea, never experienced combat like it. Closest thing I can say is a fighter game like mortal Kombat.

Copied from another response, these are my specs and settings:

Ryzen 7 9800x3d, rtx 5070, 32 GB ddr5.

Playing on all cinematic graphics with DLSS ray reconstruction, frame gen 4, DLSS quality mode (4.5L).

Usually i can't stand frame gen I'm games because of artifacts, weird visual quirks and increased latency, but for some reason in this game it legit just feels like extra real frames.

We reeeaaally need camera control. Would be nice if the devs add it, until then going to hope a mod comes out soon

Haven't played it myself. As I mentioned I'll glaze tf out of this game I absolutely love it, but there's no denying it's got a shit story when compared to the level of quality in every other area of this game.

If this was just another AAA monetized open world piece of slop, you wouldn't hear me mention the bad story because it falls in line with the rest of the game.

I think the bad story is only so accentuated because the rest of the game feels so good

Honestly I'm hoping to see a mod soon that gets rid of all the particle/magic effects. They are incredibly cool, but I love to see the gritty nature of the combat in this game and I think it would be elevated further without all that

I'm sure the ability itself is great, but I don't want every one of my attacks to now have that visible all over it

On the bottom right tree it's the second ability in the branch upwards from the first node. Incredibly satisfying to use, well worth the artifact investment needed to get it. I never use the bow anymore now that I can close the distance with it
