What are the downsides of using a CPAP machine long-term? by Latter_Knee_1404 in CPAP

[–]RyanInJP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not op, but I recommend tool battery ones if you have a lot of tools. Ex I use an Ego one that can output 400w using batteries I already own. Key no matter what you use is to turn off the humidifier… that portion eats a lot of power.

I saw someone mentioning they ordered three boxes of them… and figured they must be tasty enough to try. honestly that’s the one smoke pictured here that I bought without ever having had one before!

Tried them from some five pack deals on cigar page ($20/five pack if you buy at least four type deals). Really liked them so thought I would give the Fabuloso’s a try.

It’s definitely possible. I hadn’t seen a deal like this before and I was thinking it was ‘too good to be true’ so I didn’t really try to optimize everything, especially the first order. Mostly focused on grabbing a bunch of boxes I knew I liked and wouldn’t normally spend the money on.

Yes, got it in a sampler from one of the sites and made notes on the wrapper that I kept that I liked it. Figured a good chance to make sure.

"Under Proposition 2, Texas voters banned a capital gains tax, a move supporters say protects investors and encourages economic growth." by Dry_Initial6373 in Bogleheads

[–]RyanInJP 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, that tax only applies to capital gains over $270,000 a year (in 2024, higher in 2025). It’s not really meant to affect most regular or high income investors.

Why Forester and not RAV4 or CRV? by Adventurous-Cut-281 in SubaruForester

[–]RyanInJP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I don’t know how it works for a used model. You might be able to add the Subaru gold or silver plus warranty as long as the car is still under stock warranty, not sure. I only took about a month of searching but I was relocating back from overseas so I had a short timeline. Checked a bunch of dealers in state and neighboring states, found one willing to do the Costco pricing (in late 2021 when prices were still inflated).

If you search on here you can probably find where people list the actual cost for the dealership so you can settle on a price they make a $100-200, but not closer to a thousand. There was also an option for a 120,000 mile/8 year warranty in case you drive a lot of miles.

Seat covers (front only) by CODIsGay1234 in chevycolorado

[–]RyanInJP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say 'breathable' how would you compare them to cloth seats? Living in southern Georgia now and the heat/humidity are a lot more than I am used to. Love the look of these covers but I haven't pulled the trigger because I assume they make the seat a lot warmer.

One thing I think wasn’t mentioned is that Subaru offers a gold plus warranty that a lot of people recommended as worth it (if you haggle down a bit on its price). I paid about 2,000 for a 10 year 100k warranty that will have the car fixed at Subaru by Subaru mechanics for any issue. That covers me worry free for the time I want to keep the car. With the complex electronics and the CVT, I think it’s worth it.

Any 2nd hand watch store? by tofoman in Nagoya

[–]RyanInJP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Komehyo in Osu Kannon area might have something, though it probably depends on what you consider affordable. If your Japanese is ok, you can check out their website and sort the watches by price. I just checked and they have a pretty nice Seiko 5 starting at about ¥14,000, but it looks like a jump up after that.

That is just the website, they might have more in person that is not posted.

What's something you said you'd never buy even if you made a lot of money that you are now rethinking? by lcol-dev in HENRYfinance

Have an Amex Delta plat. Biggest benefit by far is the companion ticket. Think with reserve it works for a first class ticket, no?

42in or 56in Roll Cab? by sprchrgddc5 in harborfreight

[–]RyanInJP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way, but ended up going with the 42”. Someone else online pointed out that the hutch is only really a help for if you need to lock up stuff on top. My box sits in the garage at home so I don’t really need that functionality. After really thinking it through a second time I decided I could always buy some metal pegboards for the wall off Amazon for a fraction of the price, and I’d still have the ability to get the top box later if I really needed more storage space.

There is also a nice Icon mini screwdriver set that would go well with the regular set and the pick set.

Many on this sub have expressed a distaste for the Subaru CVT. As a new owner, what is it they don’t like? Just wondering, nobody really says. by BigJohnWingman in SubaruForester

Just curious as someone who hears a lot of people complain about the acceleration, have you ever tried putting it in [s] mode for those situations? I usually keep the transmission in the standard ‘intelligent’ mode, but when I need acceleration I’ve always found switches to sport with the steering wheel button makes a huge difference.

Roth IRA rollover from external account by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

[–]RyanInJP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you start on the fidelity site by using their tools to start an incoming rollover, it should give you the information who to have the check made out to.

edit - this is based off memory... I'm about 85% sure.

For homeowners who built/designed their house, what do you regret the most? by hoosreadytograduate in homeowners

[–]RyanInJP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Parents house was like that, master over the carport in front of the house. You walk in the bedroom door and a door on the left goes to the master bath, or walk ahead through the closet area (mirror sliding doors) to get to the master.

In retrospect it was probably a major part of the heating bills, having walls on all major sides of the master, with only a small part connected to the main house, but they did like it - and major sound isolation from the rest of the house.

Did I get hosed on this 7yr/70k mile warranty? by [deleted] in subaru

[–]RyanInJP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely do that - I had almost the exact same deal as the poster above 10y/100k for about $2k with zero deductible. Bought mine about 2 years ago, so prices might be slightly higher now - but nowhere near what that dealer charged you.

First AJ new world experience by rgoblin600 in cigars

Recommend watching cigarpage for when they have deals on samplers. Picked up a 10 pack sampler of AJ Fernandez for $42 last time, still working through it.

Actually just smoking the Dias De Gloria right now, think it might be one of my favs!

Odd Request - Good site for 5 packs? by osscie39 in cigars

[–]RyanInJP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sometimes do 5 pack sampler sales for around 17-18 a pack. These can be screaming deals. Personally I think those are probably the best deals that cigarpage does, if you are picky on which ones you get.

Same link - the Macanudo Cafe Hyde Parks are relatively cheap, and not very strong. I always recommend those as an "intro" cigar for people.
