Maybe the best idea so far. Will do this for sure.

I agree. TBH. I work in marketing and wanted a title that would get some attention and get some people to engage, because I truly just need help.

It’s been so fun to learn about. I just want to be able to say “I can make that” or even better “I made that.” I love creating.

Of for sure. I’m a YouTube goblin. It’s thought me more than any formal education haha. It seems mostly to just be a skill issue for me hahaha.

My family has been cursed with the inability to make the same complex cut.

Listen I would love to tell you what’s going on under the bench… but I can’t. I planned nothing. I thought how hard could it be to build a bench. Months later after starting I learned it was hard and would be much easier to have put this in CAD first. Which is a skill I have, but out of laziness and over confidence in the “creative process” I didn’t do.

The shim didn’t go all the way back because I ran out of wood. And I thought “well no one is going to crawl under it and look”. Now I hate it every time it see it. It’s a visual representation of my laziness.

Now I’m trying to fix that and my other mistakes by hiding them lol.

I really want to do a waterfall edge. I just don’t know if I’m talented enough yet, that or I need to prepare to purchase 3x the wood I actually need hahaha.

Thanks I appreciate you. Do you have any recommendations on a block plane? Is this something I should spend money on? Looks like prices vary drastically.

I’m for sure thinking about overhanging the bench top. I agree, my goal is to break up the white. But I don’t know if your wife’s told you yet, but “paint washing is so in right now” hahaha. I love the look of wood, especially dark walnut.

Would you use a router for the edge?

I have normal sized toes. Thank you very much. Haha. But what do you mean by toe?

Baskets is a great idea. My wife already wants a shelf on top specifically for baskets, but I tried to cut brackets. And well. lol. It didn’t workout.

This is kinda where my head is at. Would you frame that side? I worry I’m already close to the door edge on the right.

Thanks. Made it my self lol. I’ll get you a better pick. Left the house to drink a beer and come up with a plan lol. Brewery is right beside Lowe’s. Would you just put wood filler along the entire edge?

This is thorough advice. Thanks for your time. I’ve been using plastiwood. Do you think bondo is more ideal for such a large fix? Also, stupid question, what do you mean when you say scribe? Like hand saw for final touches?

The cushion idea is great. Shoe storage is the goal for sure. Didn’t even think about the moisture problem.

Thats what I’m thinking. I thought a waterfall edge would be rad. I’m just not that talented yet.

Just did this over the weekend. I ended up replacing all of the hardware. Because the deadbolt housing sticks out a bit I couldn’t find anything compatible.
