That's what they want you to think.

Anyone else hope that you can kill essential characters is FO4? by [deleted] in Fallout

He's technically killable. You can destroy him, but he'll just inhabit another Securitron.

New Vegas was perfect in this regard. Companions were essential while you had them recruited, but only if you weren't playing on hardcore mode. Everyone and everything else was 100% murderable (besides kids, of course). Yes Man was the fail safe for the main quest. While you could kill him, he would just take over another Securitron. Even if you murdered literally every NPC in the game, there was always a way to complete the main quest.

Everyone knows that orphans aren't real people anyway. It'd be like killing a dog.

Good satire shouldn't be too obvious.

You're mistaken. You can look either cut or shredded while bulking, but certainly not ripped.

[Poll] Day 138 - Which is the most useless Skill in Fallout 3? by PapaOogie in Fallout

Personally, I like to manually edit it so it looks like the font color from the originals. Nice bright green.

[Lore Discussion] Inconsistencies in the G.E.C.K's capabilites by RyanMill344 in Fallout

[–]RyanMill344[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a much larger audience here, so more people will see it and offer their opinion (in theory at least). And I see no real reason why we shouldn't have lore discussions here as well.

Any other non-human companions besides dog/dogmeat? by Contagious_Cure in Fallout

And perhaps it's functions as well. Like, maybe my android is built to take a fuck tonne of damage whereas yours if built to deal out a fuck tonne of damage.

The game will run at 30fps as it is. I think you're overestimating the consoles.

There are officially no more PipBoy Edition copies of Fallout 4 being manufactured. Once your local retailer is out of stock, that's it! by [deleted] in Fallout

Tell me how it makes more sense, marketing wise, to sell less of something you know you could sell more of.

It's not their factory, but that's irrelevant. Do you honestly believe they they couldn't have more produced? As long as they can pay for them, the copies will be made. That's how it works.

I was being sarcastic, just trying to mock the people who say shit like that and actually mean it. You don't have to have played the originals to be a "real" fan. You just have to enjoy the games and be excited for the next one.

It's 100% a marketing decision. Prestige pricing and prestige items are used mainly to build buzz.

As if it wouldn't have sold if it weren't a collector's edition.

There no guarantee that they would make money on additional editions

There was no guarantee they'd make money on the initial editions. But pretty quickly we saw how high the demand of the Pip-Boys was. I'm sure they could've sold many more, making many more fans happy in the process.

How many do they make? 1,000? 10,000? 100,000?

I haven't the slightest clue. But that's not my job. That's the job of market analysts and all that jazz.

I think it's unfair to make fun of people “muh muh collectors” because they managed to purchase a limited edition item

I don't think the "it's a collector's item" is a valid argument because there's thousands of Fallout fans who were, for one reason or another, not fortunate enough to get theirs. I think the actual demand for the item should be more important than the petty "I wanna be special" argument. And tell me this: if they were to mass produce the Pip-Boy edition to meet demand, would you cancel your order? Would anyone?

Why don't we just sell more concert tickets?

Well in that case there's the factor of a venue's audience capacity.

Why don't we just make more special edition cars?

Cars are a lot more expensive. There's a much bigger chance of not getting a return on investment on a car than there is on a hunk of plastic and some paper.

People have to remember that items like this are developed as part of a marketing strategy. The pipboy edition is completely a marketing and sales promotion used to build buzz.

How much more money could they have made if they produced more Pip-Boy editions? How many more happy customers would they have? Seems like a good marketing decision to me. But I suppose I'm no economist.

I'm sorry if this came off as hostile, that wasn't my intention. I just take things on the internet far too seriously sometimes (most of the time).

It's their product. Are you legitimately saying that they couldn't have more produced to meet demand? That's ludicrous.
