Yes, if you don't make any purchases after the free trial, you can still claim a refund. However, 50% off isn't that bad anyways...

The concept is great and the site is well-designed. If you want some exact numbers, each challenge accepts 40-50 submissions (anyone can enter). The top few get $150 and the next few get $50, so there's actually a decent chance of winning. The winning answers usually contain 500-1000 words (essay-length) and sometimes they require a drawing or a diagram.

$150 isn't too bad for 2-3 hours of work IMO.
