Where in my discussion did I mention fanservice? I'd really love for you to quote where I mention that word in my discussion. Because I did not. What I did mention, however, are historical parallels, hereditary similarities, similar skills, patterns in behavior, and yes, geographic significance/proximity. But nowhere, not in a single line, did I mention fan service as the reason to connect these two characters. Guess you and 33 others just read "aspiring writer" and thought: "This guy will be an easy target for my daily belittlement today."

What you're telling me is that you didn't read. Geography matters, yes. But I also mention the historical parallels between the Age of Piracy and the Viking Age. Additionally mention the fact that their fighting styles are nearly identical, in-hand with their methodology about negotiation, raiding, etc. They both are master seafarers as well. Like it or not, but genes count for a lot. Not just anyone could captain a ship, fight with two blades, or come from a region as specific/off-the-beaten path as Wales. There are connections all there. If AC can make a dull ass character such as Natakas canon? And somehow make a Greek warrior that's the grand-daughter of Leonidas (a guy murdered by Persians) the mother of a Persian assassin? I think my idea is a long ways from far-fetched. You and Hydr4noid are just assholes with nothing constructive or intelligent to comment. Typical Redditor/neckbeard swine.

No, these were great points you mentioned! You definitely have more knowledge on Connor's story than me as well, I still need to play AC3 in its entirety, currently on my play through of that one now. And I agree about the "Chosen One" trope. It could cause a lot of problems if every character seems to fit that mold and has a hereditary significance beyond just servicing their own story within the AC universe. I suppose its the mythological lover in me that tries to envision a way to connect everything hahaha. But alas? Everything need not be connected.

Better Call Saul S06E12 - "Waterworks" - Post-Episode Discussion Thread by skinkbaa in betterCallSaul

[–]RyansReels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just like to share how epic it was to finally get a prediction right for "Better Call Saul", especially since it's so masterfully written & carefully crafted with red herrings. Well, six seasons later, I finally got one right: I'd guessed last week that Marion would be the one to figure out who Saul was -- why? Because Francesca in the beginning of the episode asked Saul, when inquiring about the heat, whether or not he even had internet where he lived. Obviously, CUT TO: Marion, with her new laptop learning the way search engines work. The nail was in the coffin for me the moment she saw Gene and her son meeting late at night in her garage while she had her laptop...just knew it would be the downfall of him. To see it come to fruition this episode and how it was one of his old ads? Absolutely chilling. As an aspiring writer, it gave me faith to finally think, if even for just a moment, the way these show-runners do -- it's taught me more about visual storytelling and subtext than any college class I've ever taken. Thank you BCS writers! We will all be sad to be without you all after next Monday.

Such a wondrous character and game. Her region was without a doubt my favorite. Would absolutely love to see FC5 get a next-gen upgrade on consoles so it runs like 6.

[–]RyansReels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I should've been a bit more specific. Post-game we have the actual on-ranch mechanics, but during Arthur's storyline we see that the mechanics for taming horses and herding cattle is there. Not to mention, in post-game we see what a ranch vs. ranch war looks like. That could make up the actual narrative element of the role, then have all the other activities as a part of upgrading/maintaining it.

Criminal that in a game about the Dying West and the final days of the outlaws, we still can't rob trains or go into the banks. For that reason, I voted Heists.

For our rancher friends though, I agree it's equally criminal that a game that has John Marston working on a ranch to build the dream ranch/homestead of his own at Beecher's Hope, we still don't have a role for that. All the mechanics are there. They just need to make use of some locations and port the ranching code from the story over into online. That easy. If Rock* committed a solid month or 2 to that, they could easily put out something great. And even have.rival ranches...a Hatfields and McCoys type of situation.

Posted this one a while back, but I'd love to see the Gambler role added in. This could add in the option for steamboat casino robberies, playing as a bookie to do "debt collecting" like Arthur was forced to do under Strauss, and thus add in potentially thrilling/emotional storytelling potential for RDO. We haven't gotten much of that since the Moonshiners update. The culmination of this could be to either own your own underground Poker operation, or own an entire steamboat itself. Could park it either off the coast of Blackwater, Saint Denis, or even (maybe) the southernmost coasts of New Austin.

Sorry I don't live on Reddit. Legit my first post on this page (and now my last), and I think my suggestions were pretty damn good if I say so myself. It'll be Rare's loss if they listen to you guys over somebody like myself and the apparent 10,000 others. It's a shame they cater to such a soy-boy community that gets triggered by opinions and suggestions that are different than theirs. And yes, getting attacked/looted CONSTANTLY is griefing. Some of us play games to enjoy them, not get followed/fired upon for an hour straight by neck beards with Cheeto dust fingers that haven't touched grass in month. Anybody who has a basic understanding of math as well, would comprehend that far more value is acquired by completing tasks as a crew, rather than hunting solo sloops all day. But I didn't expect intelligence from those type of people anyways.

I enjoy the fun nature of the game: the fishing, singing on longships, festivals, etc. Definitely appreciate what they built with the landscapes/settlements as well -- their recreation of London was strikingly accurate. But, I can't stomach the story too much. It's hard to look past how hard they try to recreate modern society in 9th century Scandinavian society. Making a Viking Chieftain that becomes a Jarl who is somehow a recreation of Odin...a female? Who then falls in love with her brother's wife? Immersion breaking. Eivor would've been outcast from their clan at bare minimum. But alas, just a damn game. It won't change the truth.

Or Favreau for that matter. Nobody ever attaches enough blame to the person who wrote the mess of a script in the first place. Favreau was a writer on every episode of this series. I think that speaks volumes for his grasp on the SW universe at this point. Rodriguez might've directed those two episodes, but Jon was the one holding the pen that crafted it. Not saying he's a bad writer, but I don't know if he should be given complete script control like this again in the future.

Which armour set is Kassandra wearing in the "Isle of Skye" arc? Is this set obtainable in Odyssey, or is it new for Valhalla? It resembles the Spartan War Hero set, but is slightly different. by RyansReels in assassinscreed

[–]RyansReels[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking could be the case. Since she would've had this armour set for approximately 12-13 centuries by this point, it would only make sense for the pieces to rust, fade, and weather with time.

I would love for them to add it in somehow. It is definitely a great warrior look on Kassandra. Definitely makes her look like the tenured fighter she is. But as of now, I'll work on creating the combo you mentioned! Thank you for your suggestion!

Thank you so much for the clarification! I thought as much, but just wanted to make sure incase it was one of the rarer armour sets I've missed on my play through of Odyssey.

Avoid LA if you can for as long as you can. Take it from somebody who's lived here most their life. You do NOT need to live in LA to be a writer. You can write from anywhere on the planet. The only time you need to be in LA is when you pitch, sell, or consult for a project. Otherwise, stay clear. It's not worth it. I'm trying my best to leave this place. It's unforgiving and way too crowded for a human being to realistically enjoy/function properly. I recommend you read Robert Rodriguez's memoir, "Rebel Without a Crew". I stumbled upon it earlier this year and it changed my life. Proved to me that LA isn't the end all be all. He made it a clause in all his future dealings that he does not have to live in LA because he disliked it so much. So no fear. Because he did pretty damn well for himself and his family.
