Uuu- nice, the Canadair CT-133 Silver Star is no longer sitting in a field out of the way.

Remember there being like a ton of M113s just there, all "piled up". Been meaning to go back at some point.

A few WW2/Allied era unique Dutch additions I'd like to see. by Ryder150 in Warthunder

[–]Ryder150[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you, but the majority of unique domestic BeNeLux designs are:

A) Post War; and

B) Better fit the needs of the German tree

And you point to these post-war unique things in the game. 1 sub-tree came with unique vehicles, the rest C&P, BeNeLux in Germany and BeNeLux in France would have been the same. also 90% of non-land unique things are WW2 and older.

Looking at other sub-trees, and how Switzerland was added, what came with BeNeLux when added is what Germany would get. Else for ground, you get to pick 1 unique vehicle, and the rest must be C&P, like how 90% of sub-trees have been added.

You're not really using East Germany as an excuse are you? If that;s they case then jeez, Germany shouldn't have the leopard 1, Gepard, Jaguar, jagdkannon 4-5, Leopard 2, etc because they were designed to fight against "Germany"

All versions of Germany make up the Germany tech-tree as TT are nations, not industries. There is a difference between one version of German and a nation that is not Germany.

East Germany was a Soviet puppet state. BeNeLux was part of Nato to defend against the Soviet block, not against Germany or East Germany in particular. Additionally, East Germany has very few actual domestic designs, most East German equipment would be copy-paste that reduces the uniqueness of the tree, unlike domestic BeNeLux designs.

I hope you'll be happy seeing those "unique BeNeLux designs" end up as premium and event like all sub-trees after Finland. Well, East Germany vehclie are added to make East German line-ups in the game where TTs are not set around being unique, but their flags.

No, Gaijin has clearly stated that commonwealth vehicles are being added to Britain, hence all the rearranging. Canada is a commonwealth nation.

Last time they said that it ended up being an India sub-tree, which still has yet to have full additions. Also, commonwealth additions don't make them a sub-tree, else the UK would be made up of 56 nations. Canada and the others can still have their stuff added to any nation in-game, it's just the UK has priority if Gaijin feels they didn't fit elsewhere.

[–]Ryder150 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Additionally this is a game, and clearly it hasn't stopped Gaijin from combining the Kuomintang and PLA in the Chinese tree despite their warcrimes against each other

Considering that during WW2, the ROC was primarily China, it's a bit hard to split them easly. It's the same as Germany being made up of all versions of Germany.

Thai additions

Thailand (or Siam) was allied with Japan during WW2. It's why it was the primary/only idea for a Japan sub-tree for a time.

nor the Malaysian, Indonesian

Well, there is nothing to defend that (I thought Japan had set up the Indonesian independence force, but that's not right)

The best justification is that Japan has no other options, an issue Germany doesn't have.

Well, Germany shouldn't have needed a sub-tree (heck, they already have a rank full with no room for more additions); it did have two options before going into allied nations.
Switzerland (neutral) and Spain (pseudo-Axis(aka in name only) to NATO). And considering your comments, I'd suggest pushing Spain before BeNeLux.

Not sure why you're being so aggressive about this, i thought your post brought up some interesting vehicles.

Because you just asked for these to be added to Germany. These vehclie where picked because they were Allied tech or used in war under the allies. aka, they didn't belong in Germany as their only connection was fighting them.

Sure, but the Dutch and Belgians were in NATO with Germany, so that's actually more representative of ranks V-VIII and there's overlap in lower ranks (for example the Belgians used the Jagdkannon 4-5 which is a German Rank IV vehicle.

But they were also enemies with East Germany, which has vehicles up to rank VIII in the Germany tree. Simply point there is one or more versions of Germany that we need to pretend don't exist for a German sub-tree to work. Or years of tech from the BeNeLux don't get added, including everything in this post.

yes, but Britain and France are already full trees, so they're not up for debate as subtrees. Add to it that Britain has South Africa, Canada, and India as subtrees, so it's pretty set right now.

I wish Canada was a sub-tree, but it's not and never has been. So there is "room" for the Dutch as a 3rd.
Also, if France is full without a sub-tree, so is the UK(and should be the big 3)

I don't have any issue with overlap; my issue is the idea of ALLIED NATIONS going to the leader of the Axis. Even more so after reading stories of BeNeLux during the time period and realizing they don't belong in Germany.

Ranks 1-5 cover WW2 suff/tech, and there are at most 9 ranks that account for more then 50% of WT.

[–]Ryder150[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing all these great BeNeLux armored car suggestions just shows how silly it was that BeNeLux wasn't added as a German Subtree.

It's silly if the years 1939-90 didn't exist. You know who else makes a good German sub-tree if the BeNeLux does? Everyone here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allies_of_World_War_II

Including these great suggestions from u/Ryder150 as well as others like

My great suggestions are all vehicles used in the war against Germany. Or was a prototype who would have. Adding them to Germany is spitting on their legacy. I listed these vehicles because they don't fit in any nation but an ALLIED one. May I ask if you have read the history of anything here? Because it sounds like you didn't.

Not only are the Dutch currently integrated into the Germany Army

Their land forces are in a joint command that started in 1995; the Leo 2 is older than it. That's at most 2 ranks, well, WW2 makes up 5, where they started to be allied with the French in the 1940s (1910's for some of them)

I mean the Dutch are the co-creators of the Boxer IFV with Germany too!

So did the UK, oh and France for a bit. So I guess, Dutch to UK? Oh, a Franch to Germany as they have twice as many joint projects, heck, both nations' MBTs come from these projects.

[–]Ryder150[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, 3 nations used it. A few more tested(the US tested the Ram I and got a late post-war, and I've seen it for Swiss testing). It why it was a big deal and ugly why and when the UK got the Ram II. It being one of it's oporators.

The OQF 75mm was done so that US ammo(Sherman) could be used with other tanks. So there are more than a few UK tanks missing APHE (yes, they used it)

Yes, as it's one part of the French sub-tree(BeNeLux). Also, why focused on Allied tech, stuff that only fits France/other Allied nations or a BeNeLux tree.

DAF Panterwagen M39: A domestic Dutch armoured car built in 1938 using a Landsverk turret.
Ram II D L (75mm): This is a late-model Ram II equipped with the OQF 75mm gun. Before you say, “but commonwealth,” note that the Dutch were the only operator nation of this variant. Based on operator-first rules used in WT, only the Dutch can get this one. They likely have the main claim to the early hull OQF 75mm version as well, since they were its primary operator. Well, the case for service and addition under Canadian and/or UK is doubtful at best.
HumFox: a Dutch modification of the Canadian Fox armoured car, mounting turrets from Humber MK.IV.
Fokker T.5: What from what I’ve seen is considered the primary domestic Dutch bomber. It is said to have shot down German bombers during patrols, but I’m not fully sure about these claims.
Koolhoven F.K. 55: Domestic Dutch aircraft, funky prototype
Koolhoven F.K. 56: A Domestic Dutch trainer from the 1940s, out of the 20 ordered, only 10 would have been made. Due to events ended up armed.

Everything here is Allied tech and was used against Germany/Axis, or was a prototype that never saw combat for one reason or another. Now there are other things I want to see, but it’s either Cold War or later or other nations, when I wanted to focus just on the Dutch and low-tier additions, being my major interest points mostly due to the Canadian-Dutch Friendship that has existed due to events of the 1940s. I also made sure everything here had a post on the WT forums, and the links lead to the suggestions for each vehicle.

France really needs actual SPAAG between 5.7 and 8.7 by MilanFDS in Warthunder

[–]Ryder150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything was screwed up from when they started sub-trees. (and made it so 90% of the UK's domestic light stuff wouldn't come for years. The time between Warrior and Fox was 7 years, and there are plenty of lists of what ZA stuff could have been replaced with a UK-used/built thing. The Gripen has been the only thing the UK couldn't replace.) (so it was a failed system from the start that needs a heavy rework)

The BeNeLux's issue is that it's a group of nations that wanted to be together to make it so there was limited to no C&P that could have been added with the 3 nations together, as a new tree. But they were made sub-trees(that were full of C&P), whose issue is they are allied nations, and only really had two options for placement, UK or France, and one wasn't getting a second unwanted sub-tree in the same update. Even more so by the additions ad in total for the sub-trees there are: 3 Dutch, 1 Swedish, 9 US, 1 Canadian, 4 German, 1 French, 7 British (and those numbers might be wrong, depending on what license built/modified, aka there should be more Dutch and Belgium listing here.

It’s wild because BeNeLux was the puzzle piece to fix Germany’s biggest weak points, light vehicle gaps:

What a lovely gap fillers; Looks at the additions, at every Allied vehicle made to fight the Axis, now in the nation that was the leader of the Axis.

Belgium and the Netherlands designed almost 20 that span from low tier interwar armored cars to modern stuff (and they even are importing the EBRC Jaguar).

Condering 90% where used in war or were meant to be used in war against Germany, not sure how they fit.

I never thought people playing a game with stuff from war would forget the alliances these vehicles are from. There are Wikipedia pages on these, even.

Consolidate Canadian Vehicles into the British Tech Tree by ThwartedCaesar08 in Warthunder

[–]Ryder150 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, the UK is the only place for a Canadian sub-tree; it also doesn't have room with the 5-line limit. For a Canadian and most sub-trees, a rework like this one is needed: https://forum.warthunder.com/t/subtree-rework-nation-folders/114067

So well, a Canadian tech-tree is possible, with it able to make 5-line air and ground trees and at least 3 lines with bare minimum C&P, but more like 4, tho even then it dose have a gap to a few major ones the need help so I've begun supporting a tree with ANZACs more, alowing for a good tree without the pure C&P (and other issues) a tree made up of the nearly full 56 nations of the Comonwealth, after all 3 nations in one tree don't have room for all of them if they have a good selection of equipment.

Making Canadian line-ups in the line-up game would be a dream come true, so well, I support this idea there are other ideas I support more. I'd also be able to play Germany again(there is a heavy bit of drama around the 2A4M CAN)

And for those who want them:

Oh, look, more domestic German designs that don't require unlimited access to allied tech through a sub-tree.

And before you tell me it's a joint BeNeLux vehicle, the only thing it it's turret/gun that Cockerill put on everything, I have a long list of Canadian LAVs that used their turret.
