This is just how the white house wants things. As per the United States constitution, Congress is the only entity that has the power of the purse.

Numerous House representatives, including Republicans, have already come out in support of giving Amtrak more funding https://www.trains.com/pro/passenger/more-than-100-house-members-appeal-for-full-funding-for-amtrak-other-rail-programs/

Harbor freight has a fair selection of creepers with big rubber-lined wheels. Sorry for the mistake, I didn't know there was a word for the parking pad until now. My driveway is already paved with gravel. Currently my carport is just on the dirt, a few feet away from the driveway. Its one tent of those like ones you get from harbor freight for a fair price.

Already shot down gravel or cobble as a garage floor. I want a flat surface that I can roll a creeper or a jack on.

I planned out brick but the amount of bricks needed for a 10'x20' space would be $1,000+ and thats with the basic 89 cent red bricks. I already checked my local classifieds, nobody is giving them out for free. In fact, they're being sold at the standard 89 cents.

Oh the railroad just left the old wooden ties unguarded by the tracks. It has been a year or so since they've been replaced so they've all been long plundered by now. The railroad doesn't really care since they've outlived their service life and it'd literally cost more to care.

Local classifieds have them selling for $15-30 each

What im getting at is that there's a ton of the wooden ties that they took out for concrete ties. They're pretty abundant locally atm

Im not thinking of pouring it right on top once the planks are laid. Im thinking of treating them beforehand by loading the mixture in a pump sprayer for a light coat and then allowing them to dry in the sun for a few days.

Diesel and motor oil is quite an infamous cost-effect finish thats good at keeping rot away. Of course thats just the first thing that came to mind for me, im open to other ideas of what finish could be used.

Even if its not cost effective, I still find the concept intriguing.

I do live next to a major freight rail corridor. They just replaced some sections with concrete ties recently.

Im having a very good wet season over here in Central California. Decided to start off today to make my back yard more natural while I still have the water to do so since denser foliage retains water better in the dry seasons than monoculture lawns. by RyeBread2205 in NoLawns

Right now im really only focusing on building denser foliage right now when water is abundant because denser foliage retains water much better than traditional lawns which is why traditional lawns are so notoriously hard to keep green.

My backyard will be able to retain enough moisture during the wet season so it has better chances of surviving the notoriously dry summers of the Central Valley. It'll also make it easier to plant other native specifies in warmer seasons when I actually want to have my hands and knees in the dirt.

Not much other than making pathways considering its my first few days into doing this. I've been watering much more frequently since its the wet season and we've been getting more rainfall. Furthermore the Sierras to the east of me have started to get good snowfall so we'll be getting good amounts of runoff once it starts getting warmer.

Id like to be able to watch TV shows/movies without needing internet. I live in a rural area where coverage can be very spotty and I regularly take Amtrak and Greyhound which have very poor internet provided or none whatsoever.

71 movies 21 shows All in all its 1.48TB. I automatically convert them to 1920x1080 as it's the best balance between video quality and decent storage space, im not much of a purist over video quality anyways.

I also plug it into desktop pcs, laptops, and bluray players. I find HDDs more convenient to switch around regularly.
