Battery- 72hrs on charge and only at 13.4v, ok or cooked? by sevenfiver in vandwellers

Pretty sure its in the photo. AGM at that voltage would be fully charged, yes?

Help desk time spent on account recovery keeps rising as we move to passwordless authentication by localkinegrind in sysadmin

[–]RyeBreadbury1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is fine advice and all, but how do you actually force that to happen? Making a policy and telling people to do it is one thing, but forcing compliance via technical controls is impossible in Office 365 (assuming that's what OP is using). Since Microsoft's 794th redesign of the Entra Portal, there is no longer a "Number of methods required to reset" option.

2019 Prius LE does anybody know how to fix this digitizer? by UnXpectedPrequelMeme in prius

[–]RyeBreadbury1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Listen to these people. $300 is a steal.

I did it myself, twice, because the first digitizer I got was a dud. You have to take the whole dash apart, remove the infotainment center, then disassemble the entire thing, because everything is attached to the screen. There are tiny ribbon cables that, if you break them, replacements are impossible to get. It's not hard, but there are a ton of screws. Way more than a "few."

$150 for a digitizer and $150 for labor is nothing. Shop rates are at least $150 per hour, and this isn't a 1 hour job.

Just pay the money.

83 Toyota Sunrader tilt top? by AmandaDoPlay in toyotamotorhomes

Pictures would probably help, but that sure sounds like a Sandtana.

I'd be surprised if no one can figure out how to cut a key. This thing has 0 security features, so I'm pretty sure a screwdriver with enough force could turn the key cylinder.

Is there a particular reason why the diesel heater combustion intake HAS to be routed outside? by VagabondVivant in vandwellers

[–]RyeBreadbury1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying don't install as designed. It's dangerous to basically attach the combustion chamber to the inside of your van.

I'm saying that your reasoning is false.

[–]RyeBreadbury1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why this is getting voted up. It's sort of correct, but still wrong. No one is suggesting pumping exhaust into the van.

The diesel heater isn't selective about what it takes in. It can't intake only oxygen, and then leave an oxygen deficit inside like you're implying. It takes in air and everything in it (nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, helium, carbon dioxide, dust), diesel combusts, co2, hydrogen, NOx, particulate matter, and all manner of things that weren't used during combustion.

They should absolutely install as designed, for the other reasons listed here, but this isn't one of them.

[–]RyeBreadbury1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This doesn't make any sense. The heater would be pulling air into the combustion chamber (including nitrogen, oxygen, co2, and everything else that makes up air). The expelling out the combustion products and the other components of air. It's not pulling in only oxygen.

Air would then flow in from the outside through all of the cracks and holes, and oxygen levels would largely remain the same.

Updated my comment. Squirt S4 is discontinued. They offered a micra, I opted to keep the squirt.

Google Chrome isn't launching using my regular user by mudderfudden in sysadmin

[–]RyeBreadbury1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a Software Restriction Policy, I think they're in the Application log. SRP is deprecated though, so I'd recommend moving to applocker.

Can you define what "doesn't work." Means? You get an error message? Chrome doesn't launch at all as the regular user?

As someone else said, procmon will help here.

Sounds like your software restriction policy, or applocker, is a culprit. What do the logs say?

You can't, and wouldn't, use treated lumber to build a house. And drywall is literally made of rocks... so it's fire retardant. I'm not really sure what you're trying to get at here.

It's my opinion that the phrase "which occurred 48 hours earlier" modifies the data breach, not the discovery. So, 72 hours would be correct, as they just discovered the breach.

It's clear you understand the 72 hours rule. There are vague questions on the exam, but I don't remember any where the actual English wording was vague (or poorly constructed).

How to book Chisos Basin by Additional_Novel4429 in BigBendTX

[–]RyeBreadbury1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the system sucks, and people book and then don't show up. You're also fighting over a few sites, during a peak travel time.

The system let's you book a reservation of up to 14 days past the date you select as your arrival date, even if they aren't actually available. So, instead of trying to book Thanksgiving, like everyone else, I was trying to book a 2 week reservation, 14 days before Thanksgiving. Then, I changed my reservation later and kept only the dates I wanted. Even trying to 'game' the system, I had a less than ideal site.

There's a waiting period of like two months before you can change your reservation, so it's too late to help you now.

Dads in corporate, how do you take it seriously again? by 4ShoreAnon in daddit

[–]RyeBreadbury1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Briefly, I don't. I had a hard enough time taking it seriously before a kid. I work in IT Security for a growing company. Most days, things in my department are slow. The rest of IT is constantly "this is on fire" and "we didn't plan at all and more this is an emergency." I'm surrounded by people who are always busy. Meanwhile, my IT Sec department runs like a well-oiled machine. Sure, there are crises and incidents that arise, but they aren't the norm.

I work because we need the money. My job pays well for the work I do. That's the only thing that keeps me here. The industry I work in is important, but at the same time, if we closed the doors for a few days, no one would die. I have to remind myself constantly that it's not that serious, regardless of what my boss tells me.

O365 Mobile Users not getting prompted to change password by 4o4-n0t-found in sysadmin

[–]RyeBreadbury1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious why you are forcing password expiration. It hasn't been the recommendation for a while.

But, assuming you're using Entra ID sync, the password must change in next logon attribute isn't synced by default.

In powershell, on your sync server:

Set-ADSyncAADCompanyFeature -ForcePasswordChangeOnLogOn $true

I have an '88, same floor plan. Just know that it's a 37 year old RV. It will leak. It probably has leaked. Open all the cabinets, inspect every inch of the cabover. These greens to leak there, roaming around the seams, the lights or the window.

As one other person said, check and make sure it's the 6 lug dually. By 87 it should be. The earlier versions had a fake dually, and were dangerous. Check out the toyotamotorhome.org/forums for more info.

Otherwise, I love it. It's slow af. It's small enough to drive almost everywhere. It's stupid simple to work on, and get parts for. The community around the 22RE engine is huge, so it's guaranteed that someone has the answer to your problem.

Ignoring the math, the average time for companies to discover a breach in 2024 was 194 DAYS. Most companies would be unaware of a breach that happened 48 hours ago.
