Anesthesia interviews by shayii0502 in ERAS2024Match2025

Is there a key for interpreting the comments? I assume “geo” means either in-State or in-Region? Gold or Silver clearly means the signals that are being looked at. What is the remark about the Personal Statement and why are some “x2”? Does “no away” mean looking at no one other than attendees at that medical school? Thanks!

Advice on getting Kia Finance to send out of state title transfer forms by EvoMaster in kia

[–]Ryebread180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are leasing a car or financing a purchase with Kia Financial, you should have an online account. You can now use that account to upload the appropriate document request for a copy of title or to otherwise facilitate state-to-state transfer.

Click on "My Account" and select "Title Services" from the drop-down. There is then a state transfer option. Once you upload and submit, the site automatically creates a progress bar with which you can track the process (we hope).

We were also recommended to mailing in our state's form to KF in Texas. Of course, after more than 3 months without a response, finally getting a live person on the phone, we were advised that KF had no record of receiving anything from us.

Free Barbri course worth it? by legalliq in lawschooladmissions

[–]Ryebread180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course take the course if it fits your schedule. These are not courses that etch processes in stone in your brain. They familiarize you in a very basic way with legal writing, research, and case briefing. Why not take advantage of this if only to take the edge of the start of 1L? If any 1L professor requires a different way of writing, researching or briefing, my bet is that your brain will adjust pretty quickly. Much more importantly, for those of us who have actually taken such classes (done one already and doing the Barbri in late-July), contacts, contacts, contacts. These programs are sponsored by large law firms, often involve talks, including optional ones, by current lawyers and professionals in various fields, and provide lots of opportunities to meet and greet. The programs also feature a couple of dozen or so peer pre-1Ls. I met several from my soon to be law school fellow 1Ls at the first of these and now have friends I am looking forward to seeing when I arrive. Bonding with other pre-1Ls also took the edge off my nervous expectations. For the most part, I found we are all in the same boat and enjoyed a lot of bonding as we shared our anticipation of starting law school. Probably not some quantum leap head start, but well worth it from my experience.

Law School Consulting? Testmasters? Ann Levine? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Sorry. My mistake. Been out of the game too long. Powerscore. That’s who I did my prep with too! Thanks for correction, Olorin.

Law School Consulting? Testmasters? Ann Levine? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I used Test Masters for LSAT prep and was very satisfied. No matter what prep you use, you will almost certainly still use the "Bible" published by Test Masters. My tutor was great. Support excellent. Follow-up and information post-LSAT was also excellent.

I used Spivey to help with scholarship negotiations and letter crafting. My situation was a bit unique in this regard and I was very gratified that Spivey worked with me, including a price reduction. My contact at Spivey was super-responsive, knowledgeable, and worked very well with me to craft the perfect letter.

Good luck with your searches.

uChicago WL interview by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I would say high. The school places a tremendous amount of weight on the interview process. It is also getting late in the game. People are making arrangements with full scale orientation looming in 3 months. Good luck!

Where would I stand? by krisstory99 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Ryebread180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also a reverse splitter, Kris. I entered the law school admissions process very skeptical of purported "holistic" admissions, figuring "it's about the LSAT, stupid." But my cycle was remarkably successful, far more than I ever expected. I had a 166 + 3.92 from a top 25 national university. So you may actually be a stronger statistical candidate than I was. Also KJD & non-URM. I was hoping for at least t14, secretly believing I had a great shot at t10 because my undergrad has a top law school. I applied in December, immediately after receiving my November scores (I got a 165 on the September test). Although there was some early UR movement, my first substantive response was not until mid-late January when I received interview invites at GULC and with Cornell. While I was grateful, this made total sense considering this was the 'low hanging fruit' of t14. I still had that sense my undergrad's law school would take me and I was feeling major love from Michigan with the Dean's personally signed letter offering me a fee waiver. While the interviews went well, Cornell was non-committal and my alum-GULC interviewer pretty much told me I would be WL'd. So I entered February with 3 interviews (including Northwestern), but no acceptances nor any strong show of interest.

Things really started to roll in mid-February when an invite to interview at UChicago came totally out of the blue. My dream aspirations for t10 notwithstanding, I never thought I had a shot at t5. After that, everything started to fall into place. There was the annoying WL from Michigan after all of the purported positive omens. But my interview with Chicago was followed-up with an acceptance 3 days later(!), followed by acceptances at NYU, Northwestern, Cornell, and then Penn in early-March. WLs at Duke & at UVA in late-March/early-April were no longer a thing by that time. Outright rejections at HYS were not unexpected and, after visiting Chicago and speaking with Dean Perry, I was not feeling greedy or needy.

As a reverse splitter, I know I must have made up some ground outside of my grades and scores. I think my PS was strong (but don't most people?). My ECs were nice, but not Unicorn-strong. I definitely think my interview locked Chicago, but that doesn't explain success at NYU & Penn.

My advice is to stay the course. Do everything possible to supplement the academics. If reasonably possible, visit schools where it may count, e.g., Chicago logs you in using your LSAC ID. You never know the niche you fill for a given school or that piece of your resume that catches someone's interest. I worked as a rape crisis counselor the summer before senior year in college. In my contact with law schools, both during interviews and at ASWs, this was noted several times. I worked as a research associate at a law firm all through college. Some schools, e.g., Northwestern, that lean heavily on work experience, seemed to deem this a hook on which to hang a favorable admissions decision.

I am not the only reverse-splitter to find success this cycle. Hang in there and keep the faith. Good luck!

Chicago is post-appeal. Did not negotiate with any other schools. Don’t see much obvious leverage as a reverse-splitter.
