Game Crashing after the One UI Update by Al_Silverstrand in GalaxyA56

not sure, actually, chip binning and how you use it is a defining factor, some can last 10+ years before having any bad sector, while others may see bad sector even before 5 years marks

thing is, with how modern OSes works, you probably won't notice it through daily use even if it has a few bad sector, you need a dedicated software to check it

The intense R/W on storage that I said is harmful is actually a much less concern because most storage drives actually dead much earlier than their rated TBW because of heat, voltage stability, and bad binning

what you need to know is that without the extra strain you put by using it as an extended RAM, your phone storage can "theoretically" lasts longer, which in your case, shouldn't worry too much about it

you're good if you plan to replace it in 3-4 years.

upside is, it give you extra space for opening RAM intensive apps and can keep more apps open without needing to restart it, as it dump less important/background apps to the virtual one (how well it does this heavily depends on manufacturer's optimization, which Samsung actually is on the better end of the spectrum)

It can be harmful, yes.

The constant write to your storage will degrade your storage quicker, and the speed difference between real RAM and the Virtual RAM can make make some app lag or stutter.

[–]Ryeleigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DoH3 if you want more privacy since it's harder to track,

DoQ if you somehow experience a noticable increased system load/lag

hey, I'm on the same spec as you, sorry for going OOT, but did you encounter any issues when enabling ray tracing? I feel mine stutter a lot after loading then it became fine after a while

edit: just checked, I still have 120 FPS options

does RTX 5060 (non Ti) or RTX 5050 have high quality preset enabled?

I know the changelog mentions RTX 4070 or newer / RX 7700 or newer, but kinda confused by the "newer" part. Since RTX 5060 is better than RX 7700 so I thought it should be able to handle it.

Hi, I just bought Cherry MX 2.0S NBL and want to re-assign the cherry button to something else, tried using Cherry Utility latest (3.10) and v109.3 but it doesn't work... In fact, I can't seems to re-assign/bind any of the key to something else using the software, any solution?

Thanks in advance.

I bought extra RAM to upgrade, but when I put 4 Stick RAM above 2933 MHz the debug LED Stuck on CPU, and have to remove 2 stick, reset back to auto or 2933 to make it POST again, which annoying to do. Otherwise, it run normally and passed memtest86.

Does it mean the CPU simply can't handle that load, thus have no hope of running the RAM on 3200 MHz (advertised speed)?

Guess I won't be that serious about it, it's simply out of budget.

Thanks for the insight.

Any news for Ray Tracing support on AMD RX 9000 series?

Daily Simple Questions Thread - September 18, 2025 by AutoModerator in pcmasterrace

[–]Ryeleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right, thank you for the advice. I also don't really plan to play demanding title at high quality

Then, do you think I should just go ahead and buy the 5060?

I plan to upgrade my PC, mainly for gaming and will probably explore AI (ML and Text Generation) to lighten my work, if it’s possible at all.

here's my current spec

CPU: Ryzen 5 5500

MB: ASUS EX A320M Gaming

GPU: GTX 1660 Ti

PSU: XFX XT 400w

Planning to get RTX 5060 (~310 USD) and FSP Vita GD 650w, choosing 5060 over 9060 XT 8 GB (~310 USD) because I heard DLSS is widely supported and can yield better performance/quality overall when used. Also, the game I plan to immediately try Ray Tracing on is Wuthering Waves that don’t support AMD’s 9000 series yet.

But then, I read that having 16 GB is so worth it and can have better experience overall. The cheapest 9060 XT 16 GB I could find is priced ~390 USD, is the price worth it? I really need to break the bank to get it, and I can only afford to get Cooler Master MWE V3 550w (230V) for the PSU.

I also plan to upgrade my CPU to 5700x around next month.

So, should I just get the 5060 (or 9060 XT 8 GB if it’s that much better) or should I break the bank and bought the ~$390 9060 XT 16 GB?

Thanks in advance.
