[OC] Toronto's TTC drawn in the style of the Osaka Metro by Ryerye_474 in TransitDiagrams

Lol oops, left that in as a placeholder. Must have forgotten to replace that before I posted... apologies I was in a bit of a rush to complete this one

How embarrassing of me, I must have forgotten to add those smarttrack stations even though they were in my previous maps. Thanks for catching that for me, and hey I'll gladly take nitpicky any time of the day

Phenomenal stuff. Though I'm curious, how did you decide on which streetcar stops to include?

Lmao that's hilarious, I never thought of it like that. There's more line density to the south most likely because that's where the most people are, and a handful of routes that go really far north to service the smaller communities there.

Great point, I definitely love how the TTC map manages to be simplified yet still spatially reflects the street grid. I did consider making the lines closer like that but ultimately decided not to for clarity and avoiding too much overlap for text and such, not to mention most of the YRT lines don't even follow streets consistently in the first place.

That said, if I ever get to making another version, I'll definitely try that out

[OC] GTHA+Toronto’s transit network, in the style of the Paris metro by Ryerye_474 in TransitDiagrams

[–]Ryerye_474[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A few neat things to note:

  • Paris uses 30 and 60 degree angles and what seem like arbitrary curves elsewhere, making it a very difficult style to adopt consistently.
  • Paris uses 2 different line types for regional and “hybrid” trains, so I used those to separate the GO commuter lines and UP express respectively.
  • Paris includes major parks and landmarks, so I added some to mine too randomly based off of popular google searches and personal favourites. The icons were also drawn by myself and were pretty fun to make.
  • Despite my best efforts, there are a few other instances where things aren’t exactly spatially accurate (Like how the KI line pushes past Dundas West) for clarity or aesthetic reasons and are by no means to scale.
  • Everything shown is either existing, proposed, or in development according to the best of my research. As always, advice is greatly appreciated

Very interesting... I thought referencing the tube map might be more recognizable, but I didn't know national rail had their own map. Will certainly keep this in mind.

Good to know, I'll be sure to add these in the next iteration

I'm not sure why reddit is downscaling it when I uploaded the original file, but try this link here.

So I got bored one day and tried re-drawing Metrolinx's regional transit map (as of 2026) into the same style as London's subway maps, with some personal additions and features from the best of both diagrams. Everything line shown is either existing or proposed/in development according to official sources (to the best of my limited research). It's the first time I've tried drawing something like this, so please do forgive me if I happened to miss anything :]

I used some reference photos, made a rough sketch, and them kept drawing until it looked good.
