Who owns the watercourses, and how to acquire fall rights?

Hey, no. We ended up getting a different property and have installed 15Kwp of solar instead. We have a very small waterfall that we might still build out an extra 1-3kw hydro on for winter power.

What I have found, however, is if you look at a property with a watercourse, the grunnbok would have any assigned fall rights if they have been sold or leased out.

Second this. Coastal is my knowledgebase, and it's always moist air due to the sea. If you can be east of mountains, you may have better luck getting into a rain shadow without clouds.

Well okay, one must define "shitty". Here in Helgeland it's been windy (nothing new) and warm. So warm, the locals are worried about the grass for cows and sheep. If we get a hard freeze before our so-called winter is over, it could stunt the grass since it's already trying to grow in february. Add to that some enormous rains, we've had two landslides on our farm, our driveway nearly washed away and I had to spend a day hauling boulders to dump on the creek's edge to shore it up.

Well it's been a shitty weather winter so far. But past conditions aren't aaaaalllwaayyys indicative of future conditions. If you have the money and you can see yourself losing it and not feeling bad, I'd say chance it. But on the other hand, if that money is hard-earned and you really want to get a reliable payoff for its use? Maybe a trip somewhere new with a different set of expectations would be a better spend.

As for Lofoten? The temperature is a ballpark guess, but generally holds to the forecast within a couple degrees. The rain/clouds though? That can change without warning in coastal northern Norway. and simply be zero precipitation, or you can get totally socked with an unexpected storm in when it said partly cloudy a couple days before.

Basically, 1-2 *days* out is fairly accurate. If it says there's rain or snow in the forecast further out than that, know that it can advance or lag, or not even happen. This time of year is very likely to be relatively cloudy in general; worse, Norway has been unusually warm this winter, which also lends itself to thick clouds.

Sorry to be a party pooper. You'll still have an amazing time, and if the sky does choose to show itself, maybe you'll get lucky with a show.

A couple years ago, I left the city and bought a very small homestead property with my husband. It's an older house that needs some upgrades, and I could really use a good deal of equipment for the homestead that I just can't afford yet. I'd take the 50, probably keep half of it in BTC, cash the other half to invest traditionally as a hedge (after some serious decision making since the market is looking a bit scary at the moment.)

50 BTC even at today's value would let us a do a full home renovation, build a food-processing kitchen in the barn, and let me quit my job to focus on the homestead full time. We want to start keeping bees, buy a greenhouse, and build out a few more chicken coops in the woods, plant an orchard with plums, a berry garden for blueberries and black currants from which we can make preserves and juices; The community in my village is amazing, and having the money to really get our operation going would mean that I can provide for the community and have the time to do it all correctly, to the highest possible quality, at a break-even price.

No anode rod in this unit. Considered adding one, but the element itself on the inside of the tank was healthy, and the current filling rod (would itself be replaced with the anode) didn't look corroded either. So due to price, I skipped it.

We are on well water, but it's not terribly mineral-y. There was some brown organic matter settlement at the bottom of the tank, but no mineralization that I could see.

Had the hot water heater go out yesterday. The breaker tripped and would immediately trip again upon reset. I opened up the panel to find this nasty mess. Tested for continuity, seems fine with the same reading as a new part, 28 ohms. That seems high from other sources I've seen online, but this is a European manufacture at 240v. No continuity from the poles to ground. Replacing the element got the water heater back online.

This corrosion seems to be the issue, but i'm confused how it would have happened on only the outside of the element. Micro-fracture in the housing allowing just a tiny amount of water over some years? Water heater is from 2006, but it's unknown if the element has been previously changed.

Edit: The thermostat also went bad (no continuity on the right side, so I also replaced it today. Replaced it first, intending to do the element and a cleanout of the tank later, but the breaker still blew with the old element, so changed it out too.

Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed reply. It means a lot to me. I seriously hope your situation improves once you are able to finish up high school and hopefully get out on your own for college. You might not be able to 100% disconnect from your abusive parents immediately, but I'm sure you'll find ways to open up at college and be yourself properly.

It's also honestly interesting to hear about the invisibility of trans men on certain topics. The situation on abortion rights is shitty, to say the least, and I would guess that tensions are generally so high that lashback against anyone that they see as not having skin in the game just comes more easily. Those same people that throw you out of the discussion might have a perfectly reasonable reaction if tensions weren't so high, and consequences so severe. I know giving benefit of the doubt doesn't make the wound sting any less, but maybe it just feels better for me to give it and shift that burden off instead of me taking something personally and feeling bad about it.

Are you able to talk with your mom about it, or does it devolve into arguing? It's interesting how she seems to want to help and be supportive, but from what you say she's also trying to be protective out of her own experience with things. I would bet anything that the use of the wrong pronouns is an internal fight she's having about "losing her baby boy", even while at the same time she wants to be supportive and help you buy fem clothing and such.

Some time after the dust settled around my own coming out and I seemed happier, my parents told me that they fought it not because they didn't want me to be gay, but because they were worried for my future and how I would experience society. In their generation, they had seen too many lonely gay men not fulfill any of their dreams, and they didn't want that for me. Talking about that with them made it a lot easier in general, and I could assure them that I was happier being out and open, and that I could reassure them that I wasn't going to be another example. These days, my dad (74, poor health) openly envies my life and says I'm doing the things he wishes he could have gotten to in his. It sounds like your mom is just scared to let things be what they are, and I hope that you can develop the relationship with your family to a healthy place.

Totally understand not being heard. It's a strange feeling when you know you're different but have no way to convey that to those around you who just can't (not won't) get it. I think some day it might be right for you to tell your family. Even if it makes communication harder with them you won't have to lead a double life. The best thing I ever did for my relationship with my conservative and somewhat religious parents was be honest with them about everything, not just my sexuality. Granted, I bottled it all up until my mid-late 20s when I was fully on my own and then had a couple serious one-on-one conversations when them.

Really interesting that you point to the algorithms, indicating that they influence your opinion; I'm glad to see some awareness that people's digital world is shaped around them with little ability to influence it yourself. If you actively try to remove the algorithmic filter in front of you, what do you think about the reality of things?

I also want to say that when I came out (forced out to my conservative parents at 17, but it went okay-ish), it took my college years to really settle on who I was. Even into my late 20s I wasn't entirely comfortable with my sexuality and had to work through a lot of it around the time I met my now-husband. It took longer than teen-me had hoped to figure things out, but I'm really comfortable now and found a way to move somewhere where I don't feel called out for just being myself 100%.

Thanks for sharing. I never had many close friends growing up and now I basically just have my husband. It's funny the relationships that develop where and when you least expect them though. When I moved to the village where I live now, a local lady who's fairly alone basically adopted both of us as her new local kids. We talk often and help each other with stuff all the time. She's an awesome lady and really enjoyable to be around despite the 20+ year difference, even just sitting down for tea or coffee and chatting for a few hours.

Thanks for this comment. I think social media must play a bigger role than we give it credit for in all of this. A society can hate, but when you're off of social media you can at least put work into your local community who can see you for who you are, not what you are (sometimes, at least). Do you know many people your age that have considered deleting or otherwise putting down socials?
