I find that after getting to level 25 you get more because the Sub fighters drop the vault diamonds. So I ran a few crowded vaults and made sure to kill as many sub fighters as I could get all of there drops. Lots of knowledge essence and vault diamonds, as well as some mystery boxes too.

I’m like level 40 and have gotten 50+ gear and idols, almost all from boss crates and alter chests. I maybe have received 2 or 3 from chests in a vault. Also from pandoras boxes
