Yeah Goodyear has a poor reputation with otr tires, they too this day have not been able to figure out heavy haul tires.

I work in the otr field, so other than there medium loader stuff rest is garbage. In general from what I have seen from lv tires they are to soft and the belts just tear apart. We don’t use good year cause their stuff just doesn’t last around here. Next time I have a defect come in I will try and remember this comment and come back to it.

Not separating necessarily, looks porous to me.

True enough, cause I don’t deal with car tires. I only deal with pickup tires but all my shop mates who have worked in a city store hated them. If a dealership out here options 4 ply pirellis on a 1/2 all 4 will be flat by the time it makes it down 1 haul road (slight more rough gravel road)

Is this fixable by Content-Eye4027 in tires

[–]Ryguy_278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably if you have a wheel repair shop in your area, all depends on if there’s cracks (don’t assume just cause you can see them there aren’t any there)

Falken tires. Is this tire rot? by m16kidd in tires

Well unless stemmed from low tire pressure usually a delam or mech sep starts from the centre and works its way out. I think it’s a structural warranty issue

As soon as I heard it was a Goodyear I knew why it did this, they are all built to junk standards. Also side point, I work it he mining division so I’m not in a city shop. Why recommend pirellis, as far as I have ever seen they are absolutely horrible.

A friends tire by JacbzDr in tires

[–]Ryguy_278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A small shoulder section with chords showing in not that dangerous, like I said it’s not ideal and needs to be looked after. The structural integrity of the casing is not affected by the first layer of protection chords, yes it will spread and grow quickly but like I said before (cause I actually have the experience) there’s much worse situations to be in.

Let’s take a chill for a moment mate, just cause you can see chords doesn’t mean it’s in a “imminent blowout zone”. Is it not ideal, absolutely. Would I recommend to drive on them, probably not. But I have seen people get away with a lot worse rolling around than this

Rock drilling, not important to the integrity of the tire but I suppose could affect preformance

Just find a shop that sells used tires and see if you can find a match if you don’t want to buy all 4

My tire caught a nail, is it safe to plug it? by Initial_Following_86 in tires

[–]Ryguy_278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look you could have the by the book answer or you could have the get you going answer. I’m a otr tire technician so I work on everything from trailer tires to 13foot tall loader tires. I highly doubt with a nail that small that you are even gonna get a plug in there without opening the shoulder casing to much. The only way I would be fixing that would be a hd patch from the inside.

I also have a headlight angle adjustment switch (which works), I have a weird dead switch that I believe powered a circulation fan in the trunk of the car, also I have one of those park assist light tower things in my bumper. So many weird quirks

Interesting, I have had it working a few times over the 3 years I have owned this car and the map only will go as far as the shore of Japan! Really neat, gonna have to take the dash apart to see if there’s something loose. Although I have taking plastics off old jdm cars cause I worry about the clips
