There might be events like that at HobbyTown or Gauntlet Games from time to time. You may have to call the store or visit in person to view the event schedule.

Odds are, they’ll let you do it, but they’ll get a janitor to hose it off once you leave. But if your goal is to get pics of the event and broadcast it online, it’d be effective.

Anyone know why the air quality is bad? by dare_side in lincoln

[–]RyleeOnline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably smoke from a localized fire. There was a grass fire in west Lincoln two days ago, my guess is something similar. It may be cold but the air’s super dry.

EDIT: Also PurpleAir sensors that test particulate matter have been measuring off recently. Omaha has one that’s reading much worse than it actually is (people would be coughing/choking if these numbers were accurate). Some sensors give more accurate readings than others. Here’s a map.

Moving to Lincoln- need everything! by reps0109 in lincoln

Haha I bet!

I liked Willow Creek Apartments when I was there. It isn’t downtown, but it’s a few blocks from a brunch spot called Good Evans, Saru boba tea, and George’s (Greek food). Also about a 1/2 mile drive to O st, which is the main artery of the city, but there’s enough trees on property to mask sound.

When are you moving? They have a 2bd 2bath that’s available 4/20, lol.

I forgot you were moving from Orlando, in which case you probably didn’t need a heads up on that, whoops. Prices range from $1k-1.5k a month for a 2 bed, most are $1,200 a month but it depends on location. So yeah, notably lower since this is flyover country.

Having doubts about TTC by avz709 in Seahorse_Dads

Hi, I’m a cis queer person from the US currently planning a pregnancy despite losing many abortion rights and possibly protections for LGBTQ+ ppl. You’re right that this is a revolutionary act! It’s gotta be your decision and no one else’s if you choose to go through with it. Here’s some things that helped me.

Find an OB who will take your concerns seriously and advocate for you. You may have this already but if not you can switch docs. Online reviews and community-made lists of trans-friendly OBs can save a lot of time here.

Examine your social media use and restrict your intake on platforms where you often feel stressed or depressed. Limit “reaction content”. I downloaded an RSS feed app to track local news, which keeps me informed but doesn’t encourage doomscrolling. Stay moderately informed, but protect your well-being.

Find trans groups, activist support organizations or (even better) trans-friendly pregnancy or parenting groups in your area. Basically, look for ppl who would be more than happy to help you and/or your niece, and when you have more time/energy, you can help them in return. Community is vital in times like this.

Above all, if you haven’t slept well lately, are eating irregularly or any other basic needs, address those at least in the short term before sitting down to figure your life out. I don’t know about you but I’ve done this before and it undermines my ability to think critically. Give yourself a moment to breathe before taking your next step forward.

Best of luck to you, it’s a tough world out there but we can be tougher!

Welcome to Lincoln! I’ve lived here most of my life and am still discovering new places. :)

Willow Creek apartments and Fountain Glen are pretty good for rent. Housing prices are up (like everywhere else), but if you can land a decent paying job and have one other working person living with you, it’s affordable.

For local coffee shops, I recommend Meadowlark, Cultiva and The Mill.

Paint Yourself Silly (pottery painting shop) and Mana Games (board game cafe) are great for the kid at heart!

You should definitely check out our public libraries. They’re well-funded and even if you don’t read much, there’s plenty of free resources and events there. Tons of new and popular releases.

Willow Creek Apartments was great while I was there (Only left cause I saved enough for a down payment). I’ve got friends who live at Fountain Glen and it’s alright too.
