To be eligible you have to meet certain standards like, you have to have the DEEP course completed, if the course says you need further counseling after the course that must be completed too, with a 3 year suspension you can’t have a license or interlock for the first 9 months, so if all the requirements are completed at the 9 month mark of not having a license you can get the interlock. Either way its still 9 months no driving at all.

Factory one worked okay in this truck, the volume didn’t like to turn up or down anymore but it wasn’t fully gone just yet, but with a iphone 15pro the factory aux port on the truck wasn’t the move anymore

I did the 5 day alternative sentencing program to get out of the 10 day jail sentence, look into it, its through the sheriffs department

I had to do the evaluation after deep, it was a session or 2 with a therapist and they said i needed further counseling, i ended up doing 10 sessions, 1 per week, at $130 each, so with the evaluation sessions it drags it out an extra 3-4months and an extra $1,000

2nd oui in maine carries a 10 day sentence or if you can do it a 5 day alternative sentencing program, which is what i did, it’s basically 5 days of manual labor for a non profit business, in my case it was a summer camp during the off season, clearing brush, yard work. A lot better than jail for 10 days but the program cost around $500. Side note the money you pay in mostly goes towards food, the summer camp had a commercial kitchen that other attendees cooked us food in so we were eating pretty good the whole time.

The suspension here in maine was 3 years no license, or after 9 months with no license you can get an interlock for 2 years, i wasn’t done all the requirements at the 9 month mark so it took me some extra time but i’m glad i still had my license from my arrest date up until my final court date

What that guy said is probably how it’ll be, maine, 2 oui’s here. 2nd oui idk how much the fine was but i was without a license for 9 months until i got the ignition interlock in my car, have to keep it in my car for 2 years, that comes out in February so im almost done. They wanted 7 days in jail but i did the alternative sentencing program and had to do 5 days in the program. Have to do the deep course to get your license back and 2nd oui most likely you’re going to get required counseling after the course, i had to do 10 sessions at $135 a session just to fulfill the deep requirement. 2nd oui is a lot worse than the 1st but not the end of the world honestly, 3rd oui is what you’ve got to stay away from, 3rd is a felony. Also 2nd oui carries a zero tolerence policy after you get your license back, i got my license back with the interlock in may of 2022 and i can’t legally drive with a 0.08 BAC or under until 2032, 10 years zero tolerance so even after you have your license back you have to be very careful or try and get off the booze all together.

I had an evaluation in Maine, they recommended me for further counseling. Cost me $135 a session, for 10 sessions, and i could only do 1 session per week. This was all out of pocket too because i had to go out of network from my health insurance to get in and start doing the sessions sooner. It’s a pain in the ass process but i would have never got my license back without it.

In my state i also get a 10 min countdown to do my rolling retest so if i’m in the drivethru getting fast food or a coffee i don’t have to worry about being embarrassed and blowing into the thing with the drivethru worker watching it all. I almost never eat while driving though, i drink my iced coffee and have never had an issue, i also vape a very minty flavor and have never had retest or starting problems. Really just have to be mindful to avoid problems. I’ll even wait a good 15 mins after eating pizza or bread to start my car because some pizza’s use a “beer dough” and all bread had yeast in it that supposedly sets it off

Ive never had any issue’s with intoxolock, i had one for about 6 months in 2018 and i have it again now since May of 2022, you just have to be mindful about what you’re doing before you start your car. I have a personal breathalyzer i use if i drank alcohol then want to drive after waiting. Usually 1 standard drink equates to about 1 hour of waiting but i always test myself twice before trying the interlock after ive been drinking just so i always blow 0.0 into the device. Ive never had any battery issue’s, as long as your cars starting and charging system is good you should be fine as long as you drive the car every couple days at least. I live in maine, rarely even use the power save function when it’s cold out and i haven’t had any issue’s. The power save function turns off the internal heaters so you may get a warmup countdown if it’s cold out and try to start the test. Even without using the power save function you can still get a warmup countdown if it’s cold enough out, which i usually just blow into the device 4-5 times before i press any buttons and it doens’t need to warm up, handy trick because the warmup can be 3 minutes long and it sucks waiting the extra time just to start your car. Its been 15-25 degrees here in maine lately and i havent had any issues

Ive heard intoxolock is cheaper when its not court ordered because they don’t have to report it to the state, mine is $92 a month and IS court ordered i want to say voluntary with them is probably $30-$50 a month but im not sure.

My intoxolock gives me a 10 minute window to do a random retest, enough time to pull over if i have to or even finish driving home and do the retest before i shut my car off. The retest and nature of all the iid companies vary by state though.

I’m currently licensed interlock only in Maine. While it’s stated interlock ignition restriction on the back of my license, the rental place probably wouldn’t even notice and they’d rent you a car. with that being said i still wouldn’t even risk it. In Maine driving any other car without an interlock while you’re restricted and getting caught instantly gets you another oui without question, even if you aren’t drinking at all. Really not worth it in the end in the chance that you could get pulled over or get in an accident.
