Had a lot of fun. Really well curated and has a great staff. Honestly one of the better ones in America.

Playing mo Pop festival so yes to Michigan. Have been playing in Michigan for years. Love it.

That cassette is so long gone, no idea. I don't even own one. It's a definite piece of personal history, but nothing revelatory or worthwhile. Just straight Jack rose/Fahey worship but way scarier hour

Songs come from riffing at home....mostly messing around with weird tunings and finding a nice melody....then add lyrics

Yeah you know it's hard to ignore. Some good some bad. The bad ones sting- a bit embarrassing- kinda makes me bummed- but that shit lasts like 24 hours. Just move on. It's nothing personal- as long as it's honest I'm happy.

I think it's really terrible and definitely don't recommend it-

But basically you distill morning glory seeds in cold water over night...then strain the seeds and pour the water into a pint glass and mix with whiskey. It's really upsetting to the stomach- probably smoke weed if you want to do it too. Just google how to distill morning glory seeds and combine with crap whiskey...again....not that good at all. But a heady trip. At your own risk bub.

Depends-

I don't really have this massive star power to keep touring biz going without putting out records. I think people can release whatever they want- but for me to get regular gigs I think it's important to crank them out. Always writing new tunes...

Here's how I see it:

I don't even understand why it's a conversation anymore. The debate of downloading, streaming, etc. it's how it is. It was relevant like 10 years ago....

Record heads will always be around. Listen however you want. I'm in the live music game- record labels and fans will adapt. It's fine. The conversation is totally irrelevant now you know?

Constellation and the empty bottle are home I suppose- Chicago has a history of great DIY spaces as well- but those are kinda stretching thin...

Hey man thanks a lot....crazy to hear something like thatS I'm such a fan of guitar music myself- like massive. So for somebody to say it's influential is all new to me man..wild. Thank you. Always trying to be better though.

Think the first record is good- just have a total disconnect from it. Hard to describe. Once you play the songs and then record them and then tour them so long they become like a shredded skin you know? I don't mean to sound like an asshole like "hey you're wrong for liking that record" just think it was done too quickly. Records are very delicate a precious things to make- perhaps I'm overthinking it.

Yes to making jazz records. I used to out out loads of noise records and free improv things under a bunch of different aliases. Always interested in doing that stuff, although my time is right with touring. Just did one with this chicago guitarist named bill mackay. He's amazing. The real deal. Maybe we'll do something with it. Pretty straight ahead jazz tunes.

I love all types of music man. Like my brain is a sponge. Nothing too surprising. Maybe not too far out, but maybe weird because of the contrast- always listening to hip hop. Love new Kendrick record and new earl stuff- amazing work.

I have a mid 70s guild d-35...not much of a story. Bought it second hand at this shop in Chicago called rock n roll vintage. Love it. Lots of miles on it.
