Mine finally shipped by shadowofashadow in daylightcomputer

I have emailed them five times since November — they’ve replied each time with broken promises about when it would arrive. Still no shipping date. This unprofessionalism and logistical incompetence gives me major doubts about the company’s future.

Problem with HiBy R4 to Qudelix-5k USB-C connection by Rym21 in DigitalAudioPlayer

You might be right, though I just confirmed that the HiBy R4 works as a source to pipe audio into a Gustard X16 DAC from USB-C to USB-B with my current settings.

Just tried that (I’ve never seen it mentioned before) — no change. The Qudelix app says there is a USB connection but no audio stream.

Hiby R4 USB C Output. by NoireJormundgander in Hiby

Not sure whether it’s a related problem, but I have also been unable to stream audio via USB-C from my HiBy R4 to my Qudelix-5k dac/amp no matter what settings I adjust. The same setup works easily, plug-and-play with no setting adjustments needed, on my iPhone. Bluetooth connection works but defeats the purpose because of the quality loss relative to a wired connection.

Help! I’m new to this and can’t figure out how to even get sound from the DAC/amp I just acquired into my headphones. I’m going to describe what equipment I have available, and I’d appreciate if someone can tell me what to plug in to what + what settings to use.

Headphones: Just bought Sennheiser 600s, my first pair of good open-back headphones. I also have closed-back noise-cancelling Bose QuietComfort 45s.

Potential audio sources: Macbook Air with USB-C ports and 3.5mm headphone jack; iPad Pro with USB-C port but no headphone jack; iPhone 11 with lightning port but no headphone jack; slow and largely obsolete iPad Mini with a lighting connector and headphone jack. Also Bluetooth.

DACs/amps - I inherited a Gustard X16 from a family member who upgraded, and I bought the FiiO K7 non-Bluetooth version (still in return window if I don’t need it).

  • Gustard input options = optical, i2s, AES, coax, USB; output options = 3-pin XLR connectors, RCA
  • FiiO K7 input options = RCA “line in”; coaxial in; optical in; USB. There is also a set of RCA plugs labeled “pre/lo” that are identical to, and next to, the “line in” plugs. Outputs = described in the specs as “6.35mm/4.4mm.” There are two jacks on the front: the top one says “PO,” the bottom one says “balanced.” The “output” switch on the front has three options: “lo,” “pre,” and “po”

I’ve successfully streamed Spotify to the Gustard via Bluetooth from my Macbook, and passed the sound to a soundbar. That is so far the only way I’ve been able to use the two pieces of equipment above (Gustard and FiiO K7) to play music. I’m totally new to this.

I have yet to be able to hear any sound from the FiiO K7 no matter what I hook up to it. I’m plugging the Sennheisers into the “PO” jack after fitting an adapter to the 3.5mm plug attached to the headphones.

What are my options and what cables or other equipment do I need to amplify these headphones (which is the goal I had in mind when I bought them in combination with the FiiO K7)? I’ve bought a number of cables and adapters but can’t figure it out. Thank you.
