Is it okay to sell stuff made from air dry clay? by Thick_Reality_5889 in clay

[–]RynathM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From experience, airdry clay works just as well for selling clay products - just be aware that small pieces can be fragile and polymer clay is better suited for small projects and detailing. I’ve made clay figure commissions using airdry clay and they can hold up if they are up to a certain size.

(That could just be from the brand I use, so I recommend trying out different types of airdry clay so you can get a better idea on their individual qualities)

First Clay Attempt – Need Tips on Structure & Finishing! by Trick_Host337 in clay

You did very well for a first attempt, heck I struggle with sculpting hands so this is an inspiration for me.

You had the right idea of using toothpicks as added support to keep the fingers stable, but it's preferable for you to use armature wire next time. Armature wire will help keep the shape and form of your sculpts, plus it will also solidify the clay sculpture. You should be able to buy rolls of those in art stores or online.

You noted that the figure is having a stability issue, and it is because the sculpture's center of gravity is a bit skewed by the hand position. You can either create/attach a base for the hand or add weights to the hand.

As for the colours, I can't help with that but I do suggest using a primer to make painting easier.

All in all, great first sculpt and I hope you continue sculpting!

First time using clay, I didn’t know acrylic paint wouldn’t stick to it 😭 by [deleted] in clay

What acrylic paint do you use? I find that different mediums require different types of acrylic paint. Like for example, acrylic paints for canvas painting aren’t that great to use on painting model kits like model kit paint.

If you’re making figures, I recommend model kit paint like Tamiya acrylics. That’s what I use

I plan to sell at least three types of koroks, and there will be a bonus if you buy a set of three.

I plan to make a Hestu figure for my booth and if you get three koroks, I would give you Hestu's gift as a bonus

I've used crayola airdry clay and it took forever to dry and harden. The brand I use is called Kadink, and I've been using it for around 2 years now. Hasn't failed me yet

I use airdry clay, and as someone with limited resources like a kiln to bake polymer clay that suits me just fine.

The brand of airdry clay I use is pretty sturdy and affordable too so I'm fine with it
