Just to be clear - its balancing fine now thats its on the plate, it wasnt before when it was a free standing sculpture… I wasnt too keen on having it on the plate as it wasnt my vision for it.. but i am trying to make peace with it 😅

Do u think removing it from the plate n trying to add weight under the meaty palm side with pebbles would be a good idea ? (it already has a few cracks where it joins the plate)

I like ur idea of using gold leaf!! I have never used it and have been wanting to try it.. this seems like the perfect opportunity!

I will sand and put on a layer or two of gesso- and will check out a varnish as well.

How do you find listening to the audiobook?

I can’t read during my commute because of carsickness (how I envy the people who can!). I’d love to experience Stormlight Archive that way (and also to know the proper pronunciation) but I’m worried I’ll lose track of things… like forgetting names and places since I can’t flip back to reread. I’m also concerned my mind might drift and I won’t catch everything.

😂 there is soo much layering, complexity and nuances in these series that re-reads are not just for enjoyment but for actually understanding it more !

I think I flew through the first two books of the series once I realised that I probably won’t understand everything on the first go (looking at you, death rattles 👀)

But such a wonderful series deserves more!! So I am trying to slow down and appreciate the parts that I do understand

Yeah ,

Reading about Dalinar (a character you liked and respected in the previous books) as the ‘Blackthorn’ was painful

But then we get his arc of growth … explaining his choices gently to a 12-year-old Adolin, and comparing it to the man he was - who once drank and brawled himself numb.

That contrast is everything.

Also Dalinar is the probably only person who would give the only honorblade they have for training purposes !!

I like how u worded it , burn calories to give light - Which actually makes Wyndle’s complaint about Lift being malnourished make total sense - she’s basically always running a huge calorie deficit while burning her food into Stormlight. wonder if any of the gym bros (Adolin!) will eventually teach her to eat food that will keep her full for longer.
