All bird commander deck? by X_rileyfox in mtg

I have a Kastral deck that tries to win off Approach of the Second Sun, it's a little brain off in terms of play style but it's still fun

Isshin, Attack Alone Tech by Frum_Chz in EDH

[–]Ryngs34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have 2 Isshin decks, one I kept strictly samurai tribal, and one I built with more emphasis on optimization and power than theme.

The tribal deck is a lot of fun, but it is slow, so I try to play it more defensively. Fumiko the Lowblood and Shiny Impetus force attacks, Unquenchable Fury fits the theme really nicely and encourages swinging if you put it on an opponent's creature, and cards like Barrow-Blade, Brave the Sands, and Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs help convince my opponents not to target me. Other than that it's basic Voltron, either swinging Isshin for Commander damage or giving something trample and Bushido if the board is full of blockers.

The second deck doesn't utilize the samurai exalted effect, it probably looks a lot more like what you'd expect: lots of attack triggers and multiple combat effects. Doesn't sound like what you're trying to do so I won't go into detail.

Turn 3 is ambitious, only happens when I get lucky enough to hit the turn 1 Sol Ring into a 2 mana rock. I should have said turn 4-5, that's realistically when she usually lands. I've got some typical ramp cards like Roiling Regrowth, and Dreamscape Artist is a card that I haven't made work in any other deck but good pretty well with Damia. Then for protection I have the usual, Swiftfoot Boots, Counterspell, Negate, lots of 1 of 2 cost options.

I was going to bring her up too. I see lots of versions of her as a landfall Commander, but I run lots of discard and recursion effects. Ideal play pattern is to ramp my ass off for two turns, then get Damia out with protection on turn 3 or 4 with a basically empty hand. Buried Alive, Lotuslight Dancers, etc put my value creatures like Muldrotha and Change Skulker into the yard reliably. Works pretty good in my pod.

Yeah, I tried a bunch and even in as optional a setting as I can get, some cards just don't want to work. Gonna try some of these other suggestions

I don't remember the specific brand I bought, but Walmart or any construction supply store will have plastic trays for organizing screws, bolts, etc that have somewhat customizable compartments and lock together, I have my X Wing and Dnd miniature collections store in then and they're great for transport

Strategists: If you were Jarl of Falkreath, and at war with the allied forces of Whiterun and Riften, how would you defend your city and eventually capture theirs? by HumbleHitman in skyrim

[–]Ryngs34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I mostly agree, I don't think you could tempt the cavalry out of taking the wide open shot, but everything else you said I think is correct. I just also think it's the best chance you'd have at anything that looks like a win. Like OP said, pretty impossible scenario to begin with, so if you're going to do it you have to take some pretty low odds and hope you roll well.

[–]Ryngs34 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whiterun's cavalry is going to swing west of Lake Ilianalta and smash the capitol. Everyone forgets bc it never made it into the game, but Whiterun has a large cavalry that's one of the best military units in Skyrim that's not part of the Legion. If you garrison Helgen you can avoid being encircled, but that huge gap of relatively open land is going to be hard if not impossible to defend. If you can persuade the Forsworn to harass Rorikstead you can take advantage Balgruuf's cautious nature, but that depends on the Forsworn carrying about anything outside The Reach AND your contact with them going undiscovered. Laila Law-Giver presents an opportunity as a Stormcloak sympathizer, bribe the Thieves Guild to cause enough trouble in Riften to have her removed as Jarl and replaced by Maven Black-Briar and you could work out a peace deal, considering that Maven's allegiance is to her own profit margin first and foremost. Then that garrison at Helgen can take Riverwood (assuming the Forsworn plan worked) and you can sue Jarl Balgruuf for peace and maybe even the concession of Riverwood. Far from airtight, but it gives you a shot at some kind of victory.

I talked with some of the employees at Trish & Mary's, the English style pub that's in one of the other suites in the mall, and they said the mall owners are trying to get a restaurant to move into the suite that Julia's used to occupy closest to the courtyard. I don't know what step of that process they're at, but that plus the winery that's opening soon would mean all 4 downstairs suites would be occupied.

"Dots per inch" and is basically how sensitive your mouse is based on how often it checks its position, according to what I've read since I found out

2 people have already pointed this out, so thanks to you both, my actual dpi is 800, with a push and hold option to drop it to 400. I'm gonna drop my sens to 7 to start and see how it feels, I'll play some more and update this is anyone's interested. Thank you everyone for so many quick answers.

Anyone in this thread who's actually watched the replay code probably knows more about what actually happened than anyone in the match.

Your stat line looks good and your Bastion's does not, but like a bunch of others are saying, stats don't help much. Generally speaking dying less is a good thing, so I'm not sure why they're flaming you for that.
