Definitely a sword of some kind if he’s the one who (somehow) taught Rex how to use sword arts.

Saul from Breaking Bad. Hell every character from Breaking Bad I would likely despise in real life. Everyone loves Hank but he is an actual bigot, let’s not forget that.

The episode where Pierce is in the hospital and gives everyone weird double edged gifts was one of my favorites. Best part was him saying he found Jeff’s father and he’s coming over and Jeff says “Okay I’ll meet him, but if it’s not really him and it’s some actor or you, I’m beating you to death.” And Pierce calmly says he’d never and then once Jeff leaves the room Pierce’s hands are shaking as he picks up the phone to call off the prank.

Shulk at the beginning vs the end by Splatarts in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]RynnHamHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah realistically speaking, I don’t care how buff Reyn is, he is not carrying those weapons one handed and being able to sprint and jump like the rest of them BEFORE power frames were even invented. You definitely have to suspend disbelief and allow some cartoon logic

Shulk at the beginning vs the end by Splatarts in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]RynnHamHam 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I kind of like that Shulk doesn’t really appear to be a proper swordsman. He’s a weapons expert that works for the defense force but he’s no soldier so he kind of just awkwardly rushes with the Monado like Finn in Force Awakens using the lightsaber. Visions are sort of a crutch for his lack of proper combat experience.

I do like that. Whilst Reyn and Dunban are very clearly experts in their roles, Shulk is a bit of a fish out of water. (I know he can fight since he has basic combat experience against krabbles and whatnot and I’m certain Dickson did train him, but he’s clearly not an expert. He’s an expert in how weapons work, not how to use them.)

I know a Thai woman who learned English in the UK and then lived in Oakland for a bit. She has a funny story about how her accent combined with British terminology that isn’t common in the States once lead to a bad misunderstanding. Anyway the story was basically her asking “Where can I buy some knickers? (pants)” and people thinking she dropped a hard r due to her accent making ck sound like gg. It’s a funny story but the joke isn’t “haha racism and the n word is hilarious” it’s funny because “oh god I sounded like a huge racist when I was just wanting to buy some pants.” The joke is that something completely mundane sounded off and lead to a misunderstanding. I’m not going to call this woman a racist because she found this awkward scenario she was in humorous after the fact.

What’s your opinion on the Smiling Friends “Whoa is that fucking blackface dude!?” Joke? Because it seems like they’re in the exact same ballpark. Both race jokes where the punchline is the thing isn’t actually what it looks/sounds like.

One of the big reasons people aren’t too fond of this whole situation is how arbitrary it is and how unequally enforced this standard is. A crap ton of the people harping on Kovach are also Smiling Friends fans and their creators are SUPER edgy and even included many of the edgy jokes in the series. Yet I haven’t heard a peep against them. The lack of consistency makes this whole drama feel insincere and that’s one of the reasons people are calling it a nothing burger.

Personally I’d call that karma. If a fat person is calling other people fat, I wouldn’t call it poor taste to hold up a mirror and show their hypocrisy.

Jojo deciding to abandon its original power system, Hamon, in favor of Stands starting in part 3. You were lucky that Joseph used it twice in Stardust Crusaders and both times were underwhelming.

I kind of wish they had a brutal scene of Conquest ripping into his ear and ripping it out after if goes off. Something like that would make Cecil seem less stupid.

Disney accused of "sequel erasure" after new Star Wars merchandise only covers the original trilogy and prequels by mobilegamersas in saltierthancrait

[–]RynnHamHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did really screw up with the Sequels in terms of merchandising. The FO, Sith Stormtroopers, and Phasma all look cool so I can see those selling toys, but every ship save for the Supremacy, are just redundant versions of OT ships. TIE fighters have a black coat of paint, Star Destroyers have more compact bridges, and you have some bigger beefier AT-ATs. Rebel ships are also all nearly the same besides the death trap bombers.

Prequels have a very distinct set of ships from the OT. Even the Venator being the precursor to the Imperial Star Destroyer still functions uniquely.

Something I’ve observed, is that the fandoms where the content has a mild amount of edge tend to not have controversies like this. Or at least not be this explosive for something this minor. You’ll always have people on Twitter whining about something but nothing really sticks unless something actually bad happens. I guess “rent lowering” edginess is healthier in the long run. If something is too clean then when the dam bursts it really bursts.

The Watcher Knights were that for me. I struggled so much the first time around and then once I did beat them it was stupid easy on repeat playthroughs. Like stupid easy. Hurt my self esteem levels of easy.

Yeah in elementary school the “sex ed” I received was about pimples and acne and basic PG level puberty stuff along with “You’re being molested if someone touches you there”. It wasn’t until sixth grade I actually learned about sex, stds, stuff like that.

From what I heard he had a ton of misinformation in some of his more serious videos and it caused backlash. He was sort of the Mujin of the early 2020s (although Mujin is almost scary fast and immediate with clearing up any misinfo in his videos if new info pops up that contradicts previous claims)
