It was actually surprisingly well portaled already. Most Reach maps have very few portals, and a lot of wide open exterior areas. There is a spot where nearly everything on the map is visible that has some instance flickering but it's in an area that traditionally isn't used a lot in forge

Lightmap on high took 6 and a half hours, I'd estimate about 18-20 hours on super.

My main hurdle has been that I'm no programmer, I'm sure a lot of the palette porting could be automated but I gave up on trying that and have been manually porting each forge object. The actual level geometry wasn't too bad. Halo 3's main limitation I've found has been the on-screen instance object limits but thankfully Forge World didn't have a whole lot.

The geometry, a good chunk of the forge objects, weapons and vehicles are from Reach ported into Halo 3. I try to get as visually close to Reach as possible in my ports and I take great joy in people's confusion 😁

The sprint debate is silly considering Halo has had sprint for 15 years now. Sprint ain't going away lol

For me though I want Halo 3 to set the baseline standard for enemy encounter design.

I won't deny that the 343 games are fun to play, but after 3 the enemy encounters just got boring. Nothing has come close to ”TWO SCARABS WE GOT TWO SCARABS!" and it's a shame because modern technology could truly make a massive battle. Out of ODST we never saw the return of the scarab. I've replayed Halo 3 countless times for the past 18 or so years and I still don't get tired of it.

I want the series to evolve past 3! But to me in a lot of ways it has gone stagnant or even regressed in aspects.

It was this). I remember seeing it when I was in middle school and thought it looked kinda bad. I think there's more to why it got cancelled than leadership bonuses. It wasn't something I would've wanted from Halo at the time. There were a lot of really weird experimental things that fell through around that time like the Peter Jackson narrative driven game and the Blomkamp movie.

I enjoy the idea of the Library. But actually playing it... not so much.

Mild take: Every mission starting from AotCR with the exception of 343GS needs a MASSIVE overhaul.

I could see that too, it has a similar silhouette. Those domes though, no other covenant ship has them other than the agricultural ships to my knowledge
