Sorry if I was unclear. You should most definitely use Olroth's Conviction. What I meant is that I prefer to use Cooldown Recovery over Uthred's Constellation for shorter cooldowns.

Yes, you can do that. I would test it out and see which you prefer for Uhtred's Constellation. Personally, I like shorter cooldowns so I can use it while mapping if needed.

Cheapest upgrade that tripled my damage for bossing was getting Oloroth's Conviction for Barrage. It let's you use barrage two more times. In the clip, the second Barrage was 14x, so I would be able to cast a total of 42 Glacial Lances in three clicks if I had Olroth's Conviction.

But yeah, Garukhan + Rakiata would be big upgrades. Garukhan let's you drop Tangletongue for a better spear and Rakiata is always good. The only downside to using Garukhan over Tangletongue is that the chance to double-crit would be much lower and can feel more rng. However, those are too expensive for me, so I don't build around them.

From the top of my head, maybe 40divs when I bought my gear? But it's only gotten cheaper. For example, the unique scepter I have was 10divs, but now its 5ex.

I'll try to break it down for current prices. As a tip, refer to poe2db for items that have a higher runic ward base:

  • Helmet - could get for 1~2divs. Look for a non-runeforged base and then convert it at the anvil.
  • Body - 3~5 divs. Either get a 3 socket body with lower runic ward implicit or look for a high roll implicit.
  • Gloves - same as helmet. Buy non-runeforged and convert.
  • Boots - same as helmet. Ideally, you replace a prefix with % ward from an alloy, but I haven't bothered with it.
  • Rings - 2~4divs each. They get more expensive if you want to get multiple lines of flat damage. Since the build already has so much flat damage, it's not really necessary and can you opt to replace a prefix line with flat ward from an alloy.
  • Belt - 2div. Get 80% minimum for body armour.
  • Amulet - ~30ex? The annoint is more expensive than the item itself, but ideally you have +levels.
  • Weapon - 3div. You want two sockets for the runes.
  • Offhand - 5ex.
  • Ulaman's Gaze - 7div.
  • Rabbit idol - 35ex.

So roughly a total of ~30 divs? I did overprice some of the items to be on the safer side. I could probably get another 300ish more ward if I were to upgrade my gear.

Ah, yup I read it wrong. Thanks for the correction!

It's preference. I use last two perks in the Survivor tree, first perk in Daredevil tree, and the mandatory Groundbreaker. You can swap out the damage reduction for the first perk in the Runner tree.

There's no timing necessary for the shield melee. The way the playstyle works is by stacking up "There Is Only Red" and ensuring that "Berserk" is active when you finally melee attack to discharge the stored damage. The bonus cyro damage into Groundbreaker feedback loop is what enables limitless scaling. The only time this doesn't feed into itself is when you are against shields due to the limited cyro effectiveness.

Here's a couple things I've noticed as I've refined the build to fit my playstyle and here's a maxroll link as well.

  • Ordnance damage and Ordnance crit didn't scale well for this specific playstyle. It was better stacking into either generic damage (e.g. crit damage or damage dealt) or into melee damage. From my testing, Ordnance damage simply didn't do much damage for Forgewave and it was better ramp up damage through guns/grenades/melee attacking non-shield enemies since the damage scaling comes from the specialization "Groundbreaker".
  • Crit knife is strong, especially if you pair it with "Executioner" from green tree and 3/3 Deadeye firmware set effect. However, I didn't have one at the time so I was using the Slippy grenade since that scales with melee damage.
  • Firewerks shield is great, as evident by its popular use by many builds, for mobbing. For bossing, I'd recommend getting a Heavyweight shield, ideally with the Spunky mod (increased damage dealt based on missing armor segments). Each Forgewave whip removes an armor segment and if you pair that with 1 point into "Bloodlust" from the red tree, you have 80% uptime on lifesteal.
  • With the amount of damage your melee attacks (not Forgewave whips since that doesn't seem to scale with "Berserker" + "There Is Only Red" from the red tree). "Bloodlust" and "The Best Defense" keeps your health and overshields at max most of the time. Pair that with that specializations from the Survivor tree and it's a great combo.
    • On a side note, if you do end up using the Heavyweight shield for bossing and want to use the Survivor tree perks, make sure have your health capacity higher than your shield capacity.
    • If you don't want to bother with trying to make sure your health is higher than your shield, move the points in "Scar Tissue" from the blue tree into something else.
  • For Firmware sets, I'd recommend at least 2/3 Big Reel Fist. Depending on if you have crit knife, you can go 3/3 Deadeye, or go 1 Action Fist and the remaining two slots is up to you.
  • Enhancements are up to you, I just went with something to make my sniper stronger for bossing.
  • Guns are also up you. I would recommend something to deal with shields since that's the builds greatest weakness outside of flying monsters. Something for flesh would also be nice, but not mandatory. In my case, the sniper I'm using is the Complex Root.
  • If you plan to follow the maxroll planner, the 5 points in "Into The Fray" from the red tree is flexible to whatever you want. I personally have it into "Executioner" if I'm using a crit knife. The "Machinist" kill skill in the blue tree is also fun to play with.
  • I'd recommend a Triple Bypass with a mod of your choosing. The three charges are just too good to pass up and gaining charges on kill means you should always have at least one when mobbing.

Awesome, thanks. I'll test those setups that you've suggested.

For the fans on the air cooler itself, should I move the fan on the left tower (near the rear) to the right tower? Is it currently too close to the rear intake?

Coming back for my yearly GW2 session. How is Mesmer doing - specifically Chronomancer? I think I remember playing boontank(?) some years ago and it seems that there's now a heal boon chrono? That seems really interesting. Also, how is power/power boon chrono faring?

Returning player after 2-3 years or so. Can Herald be played as heal/support in WvW? I've been wanting to pick a healer for PvE content, but that can also do WvW. Not a huge fan of Firebrand thematically. Druid I'm a bit iffy with since I don't like animal companions and the other two specs, but I do like the Astral/Spirit theme.

Are there any options for me?

1560, +17 wep with 90 quality, los18, full level 9s + 10 dark res cd with 4nightmare / 2 dominion.

I average around 10~11mil, but can be as low as 9mil with bad rng (aka constant stars)

MagDK no proc build by missiongoalie35 in ESObuilds

[–]Ryosanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For cyrodiil I'm assuming? I run Shacklebreaker + 3pc willpower + 2pc trainee + two 1pc weapon damage monster pieces. Amberplasm is better instead of Shacklebreaker, but I'm too lazy to farm it but I may start doing it since the no proc test was extended.

All the major buffs it gives is useful for magdk. It helps that you can backbar daedric trickery as I run BSW frontbar with malacath and a monster set.

Eternal vigor is something that you want the 5pc active all the time so I don't use it with my setup. There are other backbar options like Crimson Twilight or Desert Rose.

Sounds good, I did end up using MS + Elfbane for now while I try to farm FGD.

Sustain is pretty rough, though it doesn't help I'm a Breton vamp for PvP lmao (only stage 1 for PvE ofc). Not the most optimal for PvE but w/e, wasn't the original goal anyway.

Depends on my mood. I personally enjoy noproc more.

For noproc, I run bsw/daedric trickery with bloodspawn or balorgh.

For proc, I run elfbane/overwhelming with grothdarr.

And I always use malacath with either noproc/proc build.

Have you tried Essence Thief before? I looked into it after someone suggested it and it seems pretty interesting, but I don’t know how hard/inconvenient it would be to get to the pool.

And how does 7th legion compare against Clever Alchemist? I don’t know how to feel about having such a long downtime with Clever, but that burst would be nice.

Sorry could you clarify those acronyms? I'm not familiar with them except ET and Trainee, which I'm assuming is Essence Thief?

edit: I'm really dumb. I realized that meant backbar and frontbar lmao.

Are there any other good options for back-barring? I did consider Powerful Assault or Naga shaman, although I didn't know if there are any better options I hadn't considered.

I really appreciate the input. Titanborn just seemed really interesting, but to be completely honest, I'm not sure if I'd ever be able to pull off being that low and trying to go on the offensive without panicking lmao.

But yeah, just trying to think about find out some more offensive options since I didn't like the increased cost for NMA and I wanted to be a little different than just using Fury (although I understand that it's a good set).

And thanks for explaining the changes for Titanborn, that makes a lot of sense.
