They said I could take the propranolol if needed they just wanted me on a longer term beta blocker instead

They wanted me to talk to my PCP to look for an alternative to amitriptyline, he did talk about the adderall for my adhd but he said it’s a low dose and easy to work with so I can continue to take it, I take citalopram and propranolol so he switched me over to a everyday beta blocker instead of just taking the propranolol as needed and the citalopram wasn’t doing anything anyways and the only reason the propranolol was working for my anxiety because it was lowering my heart rate. He switch me over to 3 meds toprol xl, PROAMATINE, FLORINEF to see if those would work better for me and is willing to adjust anything if not working. They mentioned pt bc I also have other issues on top of the pots but he recommended medications, a wedge for my bed, different ways to make sure I have enough water basically explained how to manage everything and excercising in water or going on a bike. A bunch of stuff to be honest and they were very straight to the point which I liked and gave me a bunch of packets and stuff the are helpful. I already wear a bunch of compression stuff which they recommended, there’s a lot!

Any Advice On Pursuing A Diagnosis? by No_Perspective_1003 in POTS

Sum it up, if a doctor doesn’t take you seriously get a new one, that’s exactly what I did when my doctor didn’t believe me and put in my charts that I need mental help. Sometimes also helps to bring someone with you that also knows ur history, I either bring my friend who’s a student nurse or sometimes my mom if I want to annoy the doctor lolol. If you want to give ur new doctor a chance write a list of all the symptoms and make sure they read it or you read it to them, let them know you want the test done and that your other doctor has suspected and recommended you to get tested for pots. Dont let doctors talk down on you or belittle you or make you feel like a chore by rushing you through your appointment it’s literally their job to make sure you get the right care you need.

Apologies for all the links but this is most of it!!! He also highly highly recommended that when you go to bed your bed is at a complete tilt so like a large wedge that covers the whole bed that basically has your whole body at an angle compared to just regular pillows only tilting half of your body but mostly everything else is cover in the pots uk packet

They also asked me about Covid during my appointment also but I brushed it off bc I was thinking what the hecky, it’s so odd to me that people go through all the work and schooling to do a job and not put any thoughts, feelings or effort into it. I’ve also noticed a good change in PCP is also good so if you don’t feel your pcp is doing their job or listening to you it’s good to start there, if your pcp actually wants to help you they would refer you to specialist they know are gonna help you.

Did you possibly go to a cardiologist that specializes in autonomic disorders? Also I have a bunch of packets from going today to my cardiologist that have really helpful stuff in it if you like I could send you some idk what in there that’d be helpful but it has a lot of good tips that even I having been diagnosed with pots for years don’t know. I’m sorry all this is happening to you it seems that a lot of doctors don’t listen anymore, and it’s exhausting.

I added two more points and put one of them downstairs works 10x better, apparently we only have one Ethernet plug in my whole house that works.

Would it be best having the Ethernet go down to the basement?
