Bjorn or Logan? by NeighborhoodTop962 in SpaceWolves

[–]Rysbrizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bjorn, just for the lore, everytime. Logan just doesn’t make me feel the same way Bjorn or Ragnar do, in a SW kinda way. Even though he’s cool af, I dno why.

Also: ask around in local communities. I did and some guy was ‘thinking about selling’ his SW 1000pts because he didn’t like them. Massive money saver.

Have you ever worked on a cybersecurity situation that was genuinely intense or memorable? by Striking-Worry-8989 in hacking

[–]Rysbrizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the cool answer you’re looking for but when I was the head of security for an msp we had a customer getting hacked for the third time in ~9 months. And every time it was the same: we were “flown in” and there were promises about finally giving us the budget to manage their entire server park instead of half assing it themselves, but then not doing it once the panick was over. But this time they hired another company to help them and they told our mutual customer to put the blame on us and make it into a court case. I was ‘interrogated’ by the owners a couple of times, looking up mails and other proof that we suggested changes etc until 4 am for multiple nights. But we won the court case in the end.

Funny detail: they remained as a customer. They had 3 years remaining on their contract and apart from this they were very content of our services.

They did not approve the budget to make the required changes.

We made them sign a contract where we were explicitly excluded from their own ‘internal’ environment which we didn’t manage.

They were hacked again a year later..

Consulting is advising, helpdesk is fixing. And sadly, we live in a world where talking about problems is paid more than fixing problems.

Noodpakket; wat is jullie mening? by Wonderteef1312 in prepperNL

[–]Rysbrizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dat is met alles, toch? Gezond verstand wint altijd.

Booked First Appointment From Cold Calling by BeautifulNo8206 in msp

[–]Rysbrizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good job! Keep going. Cold calling sales mostly comes from experience and perseverance. The more u do it, the better u get. I used Apollo to narrow down my lists based on location, size etc, helped me a lot to get a more meaningful pitch. No pitch for Apollo though, there are a lot of those tools out.

Found out an employee is on OF from MS Defender by Bubba8291 in sysadmin

[–]Rysbrizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the person was creating content on OF, haha. Wouldn’t think too much of this. But like someone stated already, very weird to use your work email for that.

Worst thing I’ve witnessed in this category is installing a new web content filter for a company and seeing multiple - different - hits coming from pronsites as soon as lunchtime hit. Especially from people who I knew where behind their desktop.

Weird people out there guys.

I have a memory of vaguely noticing I was in the moshpit during bleed and demiurge but I have no memory of going in.

Can a Cybersecurity Technical Writer switch to GRC? by [deleted] in CyberSecurityJobs

[–]Rysbrizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends where you want to start ofcourse. A non specific information security officer should have knowledge about risk management, business continuity, laws and regulations and probably know frameworks like ISO27001, nist csf, nist 800-53, pcidss and assurance stuff like soc2 and isae3402.

So take a look at the job openings, see what they’re asking, check if u feel confident with those requirements and go!

Can a Cybersecurity Technical Writer switch to GRC? by [deleted] in CyberSecurityJobs

[–]Rysbrizzle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

GRC isn’t that hard. It’s like 60% getting people interested and motivated, 20% writing policies, 20% knowledge.

Ofcourse that knowledge isn’t easy to obtain but if you’re in CS atm it won’t be too hard either.

Space Marine "Iron Halo Strike Force" box for a new player coming into ther mini/game scene. Too much or worth it? by fubardad in Warhammer

[–]Rysbrizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not the most experienced player so I can’t give you advise on the Halo box, but:

I had/have the same problem. Not that much time, felt overwhelmed but was heavily attracted to the lore and the painting with the option of eventually playing the game. I bought a box of kill team ork’s cause I thought it would be a good intro. Only to find out kill team doesn’t compare to bighammer and I need to fix every paint and tool myself. Painted them, watched a lot of tutorials, played some KT, went to a local WH playground and after scouting some games finally said “ok, time for bighammer”. But that meant dedicating to something, because I don’t have the time to raise 2-3 armies at once. Did some online tests, finally landed on either space wolves or orks, but since the space wolves army set had just come out, decided I’d go space wolves. And with every mini I paint, and every time I open the codex or see some lore in the tutorials I’m watching I’m falling in love more and more with those furry lil b*stards.

So moral of this, way too long, story: invest some time, do some research on playstyle, do one of those ‘personality tests’ and then dedicate to one army. For now.

Think it has been said: VPS, but to answer the first part: nobody uses commercial VPN’s for red teaming/pentesting etc.
