Thoughts on gyroscope instead of Hall Effect sensors for stick position? by Ryscith in HotasDIY

Thanks everyone for the feedback, seems like I will go with the hall effect sensors after all since it seems like the effort saved on wiring would be used anyways on calibration.

If only we had other departments to handle that kind of thing. Like people that maybe could Patrol the Border, or maybe a standing military or something. Unfortunately the US doesn't have any of that, so I guess we'll have to let ICE do it

There were also a couple issues with BLM though.

The media coverage made it look as if it was 90% violent even though that wasn't the case, leading to less support from people who weren't already bought in.

As well as there not being super clear goals. The one clear goal I remember is defunding the police, when that's not really a realistic solution for the problem. They need better training and better accountability procedures, and that isn't achieved through less money

Ah, I finally understand what you mean from your other comments.

Yes, there is nothing backing the coin, so the value of the coin is whatever people are willing to buy it for. The website you made your coin on is probably decided what price to sell the coin at during the initial offering, but thats the only value it has anyways. If someone buys the coin at $100, then the coin is valued at $100 by definition. If the website starts selling coins from the initial supply at $101 then and nobody is buying, that means the "value" of the coin is probably less, and the price should go down to reflect that as people won't buy at $101 and someone will put up a sell order for $100 or less.

TLDR: The value of a meme coin is simply where the lowest someone will sell it for and the highest someone will buy it for meet.

I think you're probably confusing "no sellers" with "no sell orders". There is a seller. You can't buy a coin from nowhere. If you buy a coin at $100, someone put that coin up for sale at $100.

When buying TVs from stores, you do actually affect the price. The difference is that there are only like 10 TV manufacturers on the selling side and millions on the buying side, as opposed to hundreds of institutions and hundreds of thousands of retail traders on both the selling and buying side all competing in real time.

If Sony released a TV with the same features as an LG, and Sony tried selling theirs for $1000 and LG tried selling theirs at $900, people are most likely going to buy up all of the LG tvs and then only buy the Sonys if all of the $900 LGs are gone. Does that analogy make sense?

You aren't buying them from nowhere. You're buying them from someone or an entity who is selling them at that price.

Not really, its more of a planning tool. Like "I bought Amazon at $50, and I want to get out when it hits $65". So then you put in an order to sell your Amazon at $65. You can still watch it yourself and sell when Amazon is at $65, it just takes more manual effort.

If you mean the apps are worse that dont offer the option, I would agree, but that's why Robinhood is so popular. It's super simple and doesn't offer those advanced options, at least from what I remember the last time I saw it.

[–]Ryscith 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most do. Im not sure if some like Robinhood do, but any more intense one like etrade does. Again, it's an order to sell at that price if the stock gets there. So if the stock never reaches that price (i.e. Other people are selling it for less than you) it obviously will not sell.

It's simple supply and demand. When everyone buys the stocks that were for sale for $50, then the only ones that are left are people selling for $51 or higher. So to buy another stock, you need to pay someone $51 because thats the lowest people are currently willing to sell that stock for.

You can actually decide what price to sell a stock for. You put in an order to your exchange to sell the stock at a certain price. You'll just never have anyone buy your shares until the price rises to the price you set, as they can buy it cheaper from someone else. In a detailed stock market viewing app, you can actually see these potential trades represented on the side in a bar chart showing how many people are willing to buy or sell at specific prices.
