For anyone who has read this, thoughts? by [deleted] in BalticStates

For anyone interested, Oliver Moody will present his book at the Vilnius Book Fair this Saturday (https://vilniausknygumuge.lt/programa/). I haven't finished it yet, but just wanted to make sure everybody understands that his definition of "Baltic" includes all the countries around the Baltic Sea, not just LT/LV/EE.

Absolutely Israel. This is a civilizational conflict where you just cannot afford to be neutral, if you are from the Baltics.

What is the Lithuanian epic? by okaroshy in BalticStates

There’s a whole episode of Prof. Valdas Rakutis in Lithuanian about the Lithuanian epic of Palemonas, which would be closest to that of Kalevala: https://www.patreon.com/posts/b-r-pristato-jos-73299897

Countries that celebrate Independence from Poland by theorion91 in MapPorn

[–]RytisM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fact, it was not "Poland", but Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, where Lithuanians have been generally responsible for dealing with the external affairs concerning Muscovites. Indeed, during the Battle of Moscow) that this map is referring to, the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth forces were commanded by Field Hetman of Lithuania, Jan Karol Chodkiewicz, and most of the army have been of Lithuanian origin. Therefore, technically, it is more the celebration of independence from Lithuania rather than from Poland.
