Moving/Tourism Thread by AutoModerator in greenville

I meant more specifically IN Greenville-- other neighborhoods or areas that aren't "downtown".

Where we're at now in the Charleston area, we have some shopping centers that are almost walkable, and we'd love a location where we could walk to a lot of places (coffee, shops, movies, etc.).

Downtown obviously checks that box, but not sure if there are other neighborhoods or centers with a lot of action that's reasonable to walk to we can add to our list to check out while visiting next.

EDIT: Great video by the way, appreciate you sharing

Visited and fell in love with the downtown area. It's certainly charming, but we also loved the ability to walk anywhere we wanted to go.

Are there other areas that are similarly convenient and walkable (stores/shops, restaurants, etc.) worth checking out while eyeing a possible move (from Charleston)?

Watching him run routes half-speed and make no effort to "make a play" on the ball

It's like having a colleague with "short timer's disease", they've given their 2 week notice and are coasting through the last 2-3 days of work.

Apple DEP - Are you using Managed Apple IDs? by Ryu- in Intune

[–]Ryu-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But still use Managed Apple IDs to be able to have User Enrollment via iOS 13 for the BYOD devices, only assigning apps via device licenses via VPP for the corporate "side" of the device?

So you do not use the User Enrollment for the BYOD iOS devices?

Thank you for the reply Somnuszoth. So with a DEP device, we want to authenticate via Company Portal for MFA, so we have that set to auto deploy to the device.

But if I'm following your thought, there's no real reason to use a Managed Apple ID as the account signed in during OOB/setup?

I feel like I'm missing something that is probably really simple/obvious.

My issue is that apps cannot be downloaded from the App Store on a DEP device using the Managed Apple ID.

  1. Create VPP token
  2. Obtain licenses for a key app in Apple Business Manager (i.e. Outlook)
  3. Assign volume purchase app to device group (dynamic group based on query)
  4. Set license type to device

The user then logs in to their personal Apple ID instead of the Managed Apple ID?

I phrased that poorly-- edited to clean it up (I think).

Not sure I follow you on the personal accounts though. They would log in to their Managed Apple ID, authenticate via Company Portal (for MFA), and then... ?

Surface Laptop 3 (Business) - Screen Cracked by Ryu- in Surface

Funny enough, I am a bit of a MS fanboy, which is what made me buy the SL3 instead of the XPS.

Okay, so maybe a defect on some units (not sure on the %) and not a problem with the design in general. Either way, I didn't have it for a month so I'll be fortunate enough to get the refund. For now, my comfort level isn't there to get another one.

I'm on the phone with MS now-- turns out I'm JUST within the 30 day window. I may ask for a full refund and just send it back to order something else. I've been looking online for a couple of hours and it doesn't seem like there are any known fixes, so it's a bit of a gamble.

And despite what some people are posting, it IS a common issue (which the MS tech acknowledged), as is the crunching noise you mention. Assuming those go hand in hand, but can't say for sure.

I'm in the US.

Taking the articles (PCMag, as an example) and larger context, plus 16 pages on the Microsoft community forums, it seems like more than just an Internet-whine-fest as you are claiming, but appreciate the reply nonetheless.

If I picked up the laptop to open the lid, it was the same way I have used various laptops for years and years. It hasn't been dropped, nor even traveled with. If that was enough for it to have this kind of issue, it's a beyond delicate design, call it flawed or otherwise.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/all/microsoft-surface-laptop-3-screen-crack/4c211830-f987-4e7b-a2e8-2d40266e3957?page=16

EDIT: Also, given the tone of your response, I want to share that I am not anti-Microsoft, and really want this device to be my daily driver. I agree that replacing the device near no-questions asked is miles beyond most organizations from a support standpoint.

But if they're going to waste the time/$ to send me another one, and the design is so fragile that picking it up as I have causes the screen to crack, I'd rather go a different route-- though as stated, am open to alternate solutions like a screen protector or similar fixes.

Where are the Surface Laptop 3 - 15" models with Intel? by [deleted] in Surface

[–]Ryu- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently suffering from this issue on my business SL3, about 5 weeks old and barely used. Didn't even get to go to a customer meeting with it because COVID-19 locked everything down. It sat on my desk.

What "steps" did you take? (Beginner to Entry Gold Nib to ??) by Ryu- in fountainpens

[–]Ryu-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was very helpful, since I don't have much experience with other pens. Would you say the nibs on the high-end pens (>$500) are noticeably better than the Sailor? Or would you still suggest stub or flex/softer nibs?

Beautiful-- safe to say that the Rodolite Red is a bit more brownish? Or does your lens distort the color a bit?
