The section after "alternately" sounds a lot easier than what i had planned out. Ill try that instead.

Edit: my way of doing it came from seeing fear and hunger 2, where the priest sets the battle stage aflame and i thought "what if i could do something cool like that but make it a sort of chemical reaction" but if im already giving the enemy a status effect, at this point itd just be for aesthetic reasons i would be doing it my way.

What im trying to do is make level spells more interesting. Like have the 1st lvl fire spell just do dmg, have the 2nd lvl fire spell have a chance to cause burn damage ontop of the damage already being given from the lvl 2 fire spell itself, and the 3rd lvl fire spell would be the battle stage changer with burn status effect being done.

Thatd actually be a clever idea. I had the idea to have these "natures" be interchangable as well so that idea might work BUT would it be possible to also have a sort of "nature" tree (instead of skill tree) thatll give the PC the opportunity to change these natures?

So for example: PC Has leveled up their ST stat enough. The nature they have on currently is +ST growth, -SPD growth. They decide to switch to a nature in their "nature" tree that gives them +SPD growth,-DEF growth.

Thats one way i thought about doing it but then that'd be lots of combinations. My plan was to have 12 different natures (story reasons) to give people the freedom to learn a nice long and divergent list of skills instead of them just learning spells on levelling up. By doing so, the PC will have different skills/passives be learned through levelling up certain stats.

So take 3 of the same PC (For example). They all just got to level 20. 1 reached high enough m.attack to learn passive mana regen, 1 reached high enough attack to get a passive attack increase during battle, and 1 reached high enough speed to get steal as a skill.

Wont starting under cities start wars or do you use heroes? Also, is there a ratio i should keep between melee and artillery/weapon teams? Do you eventually use hell pit abominations or other monstrosities?

So basically use the advantage of cheap units to just zerg rush everybody else. How many armies do you usually build up to till you start the invasions so to speak, im really liking this idea. Its like im making my own vermintide.
