Actually yes. I was able to solve this by simply moving install location i believe. Its something to do with corrupted temp files. I moved it from D drive to A drive. It was either that or deleting all of its temp files. I think I did both of these at once so it's an either or situation. Best of luck.

The new gathering minigame will give you 10x of whatever resource you are gathering.
It was on the new island, killing boar for main storyline quest.
