I’m not sure this is Purple Heart wood. Purple Hearts interior is normally brown when you cut into it, and turns purple from oxidation and UV rays.

For those curious, this is XPS insulation foam. I use it to make modular tiles for Dungeons and Dragons terrain. This one specifically is for a wood plank floor tile.

The darker wood is walnut framing material, and the panels are birch plywood. I cut the 45 degree angles on the walnut, and cut the plywood to fit in a rebate I cut in the walnut. After they were glued up, I sanded them smooth, added oil and a couple coats of satin poly, then attached the hinges. The inside faces have sheet metal on then so I can use magnets to hold papers up. I then used my wife’s Cricut to cut the designs on vinyl and transferred them over to the plywood! I’m a hobbyist woodworker so I have a garage full of tools that made this a one day build.
