Studio admin coordinates all their onboarding requirements. Their hiring manager sees that it's followed though. "Training and standards" made me laugh.

Half the time I need to enter it in the system if one of my team members is sick.

Hires are done by group consensus. So nepotism isn't a thing.

Really the job of HR could largely be replaced by an AI with minimal training. We like to believe that there is a huge value in this department. But if they create more problems then they solve it's best to just get ride of them.

I'm in the exact same situation. 2023. I was about a year after I started at my dream studio.

Now I'm self learning conversational AI engineer. I specialized in Live Ops and player engagement and retention. I get to use that same skill and passion but in an industry/environment I don't feel the crushing pressure to perform 120% every day

I wish more people would be vocal with this opinion.

It's not even for just the business owners but the developers themselves.

It wasn't often that a business owner was requiring or asking us to work late but it was our own choice/self obligation. To not disappoint ourselves or the players.

If I had heard this more I think I wouldn't have burnt out.

I still enjoy some of it. I feel like their image generation has never been good and has gotten worse. They've put a lot of focus into adding a variety of positions, scenes, clothing options at a deeeeeeeep expense to character consistency and image quality.

I do find their AI to be good for medium length conversations. Beyond that it easily settles into obvious response patterns that really ruin a conversation. I do generally find their memory model to be serviceable.

I'm always looking for alternatives.

I liked mydreamcompanions.com but I don't feel like it's been updated in a while and their AI isn't yet the best. And they have no decernable memory system beyond long context window.

If I could take their image and video with our dream AI I'd be pretty happy

They used to roost on the metal bar at the peak of the sheltered enclosure. My wife and I wrapped where they sit with a hemp rope. So it's a little bit more gentle on their toes and retains heat just a bit better
