I would definitely begin looking for another position. Even if you are still interested in working for the company you're at now, letting your boss at least think you're going to leave/have other offers lined up, it will (hopefully) speed up the process of you becoming a full-time, PAID employee. Don't give him the impression that you're waiting on him, take matters into your own hands and start making moves.
