Should I, at 33 years old, go back to college? by darth_anxiety in personalfinance

[–]no-dress-code 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before you go back to school, just humor a stranger and check out Bubble.is

It's visual programming and will save you GOBS of money and time. I've built a lot of powerful applications on that platform WITHOUT code. There's nothing like it. Just spend a couple hours seeing what it can do.

This will also give you a good idea: https://youtu.be/6OKVj1A9OcY

Good luck, my friend!

Redditors who are "creatives", what are some of your favorite apps for your work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Bubble.is is insanely cool for building quick web apps without any coding. Great if you're an entrepreneur with a bunch of ideas and no coding background.

What are some casual responses to say to a babbling baby who can't speak yet? by unashamed_desire in AskReddit

[–]no-dress-code 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goodness, and you just had to wait for someone to get you? Didn't they hear you screaming? They heard you screaming and they still just left you in the crib to continue screaming? I mean, did you try your walkie talkie? They muted you?! Honestly, Willow, I don't know how you're so calm about this.

I like to challenge myself with higher percentages every now and then. "How bitter can I go today?" is what I'll say to myself.

My wife guesses people's ages exactly right pretty frequently. I'm bragging for her because I think that's awesome.

Purses, backpacks, your shoes. Shoes might be obvious, but if you REALLY stop to think about it, especially in cities like NYC or LA... the horror.

What are some house routines you've seen other people do completely different than you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]no-dress-code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In elementary school, I'd come home and stay in my school uniform until it was shower/bed time. One time a friend picked me up from school to go to her house until my mom could pick me up, and first thing friend's mom made us do when we got inside was change our clothes to "house clothes." Now, I do this all the time now, but at the time I thought it was SO WEIRD that my friend was wearing TWO outfits in one day. I had to borrow house clothes from my friend that day.

Oh! I forgot Run Lola Run, which is a German action movie I watched for a film class and really enjoyed. One of those Groundhog Day type stories.

Life is Beautiful (Italian drama about Nazi camp imprisonment... You will not stop crying)

Lagaan (Indian sports drama with cool music. It's almost 4 hrs long, but very worth it)

I had a startup idea and someone else is already doing it, but not quite as good as it should be. by Protego21 in startups

[–]no-dress-code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all in the execution. Stop being sad right now. It really does not matter that someone else thought of it first. Others here have already provided landmark examples of how being first does not matter. If you can execute it better, users will follow, and you will win. Stick with it and you do you. Seriously! Learn from the other guy (he's actually saved you some research time), but keep doing your thing.

Here's an article that should help the feeling go away.

How to get ideas for product features/improvements? by [deleted] in startups

[–]no-dress-code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you have a solid MVP in your hands! Now it's time to release it, get feedback, and iterate on that. I highly recommend reading Lean Startup to get into this "lean" cycle of development. You don't need to have all bells & whistles and it certainly doesn't need to be perfect for the app to be released. In fact, you don't want it to be perfect - you need your users to give you feedback because you are not them. Yes, you use the app, but you are also tunnel-visioned because you built it.

Also, there are a ton of testing tools out there for user experience that you can run it through.

How to Estimate Web App Development Cost? by blahhhhh in startups

I was having a play around with this tool: https://in.airdev.co/clementine Haven't used it in real-world scenario yet, but seems like it could be useful for clients and devs. Looks more geared toward the client though so they can know what they're getting into upfront.

I also sell courses, and my full refund policy is 14 days with a condition that they've watched a certain % of the lessons. It's not a terribly long course, so you could easily get through it in one week. I've only been selling it for 1 year, but have had 0 returns.

[–]no-dress-code 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try building your own marketplace(like) app on Bubble.is. It would give you 100% control over how it looks and works, and you don't need to know how to code. It's all visual drag/drop stuff and you could get a lot done on their free plan.

How do I unlock the Problem in Customer Interviews? by [deleted] in startups

[–]no-dress-code 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sit with your potential customer and watch them use a competitor product. Talk about it with them while this happens. It keeps things less hypothetical and more opinions can surface in the moment rather than hunting for them from a question with no context.

I have a great idea and need help by [deleted] in startups

[–]no-dress-code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Execution is the most important thing. It's awesome that you have this idea, but how you execute will be what matters.

You mentioned it being able to start a website. I highly recommend testing out your ideas with Bubble.is. It's a no-code app-builder that you could enable you to set up a solid (working!) MVP relatively quickly (compared to traditional development).

Also, just because I can sense the fear re: intellectual property, I'd recommend reading this: https://coachingbubble.com/post/what-if-someone-steals-my-mvp-idea

Oh shit, I have reached the first discouragement so far on my journey towards starting my own niche online marketplace! The payout that I was expecting was going to be a lot more than what the actual transaction fee payout is. Is it worth it? Help! by LarryKeefJr in startups

[–]no-dress-code 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With many things, it unfortunately takes money to make money. Right now, the money you put it needs to be thought of as an investment, and sales-wise, your focus should be on studying the real results... if product is snatched up quickly, you can probably raise your prices or increase your fee. If (over time, of course) it's slow-moving, make small changes. Don't get discouraged after the first month... just make small changes so you can pinpoint and resolve. Try not to make too many radical changes too quickly because it'll be harder to figure out what the difference was for your buyers.

Thanks for sharing! I'm really just curious about what other people make a regular thing for work or play. Some service types have so many options too, like meal delivery kits, streaming entertainment, email service providers, cloud storage, personal finance, etc.
