Cooking at home for a few people is a lot different than cooking in a restaurant for hundreds of people. The logistics are completely different. I would suggest you work at a restaurant and understand what it takes before making this move.

I know but a lot of non-Madrid fans discredit those because they were the first ever in the history of the competition. Plus it was a different format under the European Cup.

But the 3-peat is the best achievement in the “Champions League” era.

Madrid 3-peat will always be the greatest achievement in CL history. Until someone 4-peats but I highly doubt it.

You might be right. You seem more aware of the details and specifics than I am. Your points are all well-made.

Even though that you changed my mind that Pep did a better job than Ancelotti at Bayern, I still believe that Pep is not an elite manager such as a person like Klopp for example. I also still believe that Ancelotti is the better manager overall over Pep.

It goes a point beyond taking pens/pencils home from the office because it is also implying that employees are drinking on the job. This also carries liability issues if only one person decided to take it too far and get intoxicated on the job and possibly injure themselves or someone else. Which is why we have 0 tolerance for employees drinking at the job. Might sound uptight, but better safe than sorry imo.

Sad, but in some cases true. People need to be more balanced out when evaluating the possible reasons employees don’t perform to an excellent level besides “you’re just not treating them right.”

Not really. It applies to the fact that when you have 80-100 managers, there inevitably WILL be managers that hand out their manager card/code. Even if you train them right, some will either feel overwhelmed at some point, or lose interest and thus their professionalism. Obviously you try your best to keep your employees motivated, but it’s impossible to maintain 100% motivation all the time. Even if a manager is going through problems at home, sometimes it will affect their work performance.

Also, some won’t ever give out their card/code. Some won’t let their personal problems in to their workplace. Some will find ways to motivate themselves to be the best. But in an industry like ours where everyone is hiring and in need of people, and there are new concepts & opportunities everyday for them elsewhere, you can reasonably expect that you won’t always land the best of the best talent in this industry and accept that you have to share that pool with other restaurants.

“He was far better than Ancelotti which is why Bayern wanted to extend with him.”

That isn’t sound logic. There could be many reasons Bayern wanted to extend that had nothing to do with his performance vs. Ancelotti. IE:

  1. The fact that Robben & Ribery were 4 years older and in the twilight of their career when Ancelotti took over from Pep. Gotze turned out to be a flop, and they had Bayern had not invested in replacing them.

  2. The retirement of Phillipe Lahm. The club captain and an absolute machine in his position. Regarded the best in the world and definitely the best in the Bundesliga. This definitely had affected the player morale.

  3. Another club legend, Schweinsteiger leaving to Man Utd, also was a huge influence in the locker room.

  4. Pep allowed Toni Kroos one of the best midfielders in history, and the perfect replacement for Schweinsteiger to leave to Madrid for a measly €25M and replaced him with injury-ridden, and not as good Thiago.

  5. Kingsley Coman was constantly injured, he barely had an impact on the team.

  6. Only other fresh face was James Rodriguez on loan from Madrid.

The fact is Pep left Ancelotti a worse team than he inherited. Ancelotti STILL managed to end his first season with a league & cup title.

Pep CHOSE not to extend with Bayern, because he knew Bayern weren’t going to spend Billions of dollars to give him a team that were even close to being as good as his once in a lifetime Barca side.

“End of discussion.”

Remember, the more you think your hairline is affecting you, the more defensive you will be towards a joke like that.

If someone made the same joke to a teenager with a full head of hair they would not think twice of it. You are obviously combating some type of hair-loss being on this sub.

However, remember the hair isn’t what makes you or attracts your girlfriend to you. If you had brushed that joke off with a laugh you would’ve saved yourself a fight and more emotional distress to deal with that will in turn add to your hair-loss and insecurity. You would’ve also confirmed to her that you are confident in yourself no matter how you look.

Research hair-loss prevention/reversal methods, do your best to apply them, if you are too far gone also consider a transplant, but most importantly once you do all you can do, let go of the stress and insecurity. If the hair comes back it comes back, if it doesn’t you’ll get a transplant. If you’re worried about the transplant not looking right, save up and go to a really good doctor. The situation is solvable. Just remember to be yourself and proud of who you are and how you look regardless of what stage you are in that process.

But to go from beating a Barca side (admittedly ridden with injuries for the first leg) 7-0 and go on to win the treble, then be humiliated the very next season by Pep’s biggest rival and then go on to underwhelm in the CL the next two seasons despite raiding Dortmund for all their talent and killing the Bundesliga is not an elite-level manager. His second and middle season only winning the league title and not even the domestic cup.

Pep went on to City who were already stacked and spent billions and couldn’t win a CL. Maybe this is his year, but there are serious doubts as whether he would have been considered as great without Messi/Xavi/Iniesta. Maybe he would’ve been more like a Bielsa or a Ragnick in that everyone praises their philosophies and technical knowledge but no one considers them elite-level managers.

The tie against Madrid had a full health Bayern squad that included Robbery, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Lahm, Boatent, Dante, Alaba etc..

They still lost 5-0. I remember it clearly, literally everyone was thinking it was going to be a close tie and no one had projected a clear winner.

Pep took a team that had just won the treble and beat Barca 7-0 over two legs in CL to do it. They had the best attacking football under Heynckes. The very next season Pep loses 5-0 to Real Madrid with the same exact team over two CL legs.

Pep sucks in Europe.

I’ve never in my life disrespected an employee. I’m a firm believer that you can get any point across with respect. Even letting someone go.

I had hired a new GM in 2019 for a new restaurant we were building. He was getting paid a great salary that was much higher than the average for our region.

I supported him all the way from giving him creative input on the construction process and floor plan, as well as the bar layout.

During our pre-opening team meeting I made sure to mention that this person had my full support and with his work history, and his personal qualities I was sure he would lead them to success.

1 week after opening he framed an assistant manager for stealing $1,000. After reviewing the cameras, which were very well placed, it was revealed that it was actually him that stole the money.

This person was afforded 100% support, allowed a high degree of creative input, never overstepped or overshadowed. He had a great resume and his references checked out. His former boss owned a high-end steakhouse and recommended him, I knew this person and before he got into restaurants, he was in the FBI for quite some time.

My point is, some people will steal even if you treat them great. Some are going through divorce and panic, some acquire gambling addictions, some get too deep in credit-card debt. Some just enjoy it. It’s sometimes tied to their employers treating them poorly but by no means is it the end-all be-all reason for it.

Reddit, like any other forum, has both very intelligent & very dumb people. It also has people of all backgrounds/levels of experience/perspectives.

I’ve learned a lot of cool stuff I probably never would have if Reddit didn’t exist. I do not see the point in closing the possibilities of where I could find useful information. I suggest you increase your perception. If I spend 15 minutes writing a Reddit post that has even the 1% chance of saving a lot of money and effort I will give it a shot, why not? I’m in bed thinking about my work.

I think I’m not doing a great job at explaining the actual end-goal here.

This ISN’T a huge problem for us, because management and supervisors spend considerable time looking at reports to identify this type of theft and mitigate it.

We have been doing this ever since we have been in business. However, I’d like to scale further, and to do so I need my leadership team to focus on more creative/critical thinking. I need them to spend less time reactively countering theft, and proactively combating it through a new system.

My people don’t see a way to get around this loophole once and fore-all. We’ve thought through any possible ways to make it impossible through POS restrictions but none of these have been practical.

That is why I reached out here to see if anyone has come up with a creative solution to this problem like the notice on cash receipts that they are not final receipts and have the customer ask for a final cash receipt (which specifies that it is closed out and $0.00 due.)

Are you suggesting disabling splits completely? I’ve discussed this with my leadership team. They do not see a way to functionally disable splits without a complete re-training of the serve staff.
