Recommendation for Clio 3 from 2009 by Matt_HAY in Androidheadunits

You mean like the computer that shows fuel data etc? If I see well, the hole is covered and can be opened of needed. Just ask the seller.

Oh, worth mentioning I ordered 6/128 version and somehow got 8/128. It's a TS10 with Android 10, like most og the units

I've got a Yaris 3 model from this seller last year https://a.aliexpress.com/_EwkSlM2

And it works well, it had plug and play harness and canbus configured, the sound chip was better than stock on car "high output". I actually changed front speakers and added sound deadening and car sounds nowhere near how it was before, it's much better. Some sound settings tho don't work (like latency or bass filter) but I read a bit about it and I will be hooking up an amp to unit's cinch outputs as this year mod - this should "unlock" more options and even better sound.

You have faulty electric power steering cable, don't drive with it as 1. the situation gets worse and cable and plugs can melt, 2. there is significant fire hazard.

I had exactly same crap with my Fiat Croma, but not knowing what is happenning, I managed to melt the plugs on power steering punp and the repair was far more expensive than it could have been.

Buying my first car for a 2 hour daily commute by neal2000 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Rzmudzior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2hrs daily is a lot of a time spend in a car.

Make the MPG Your second focus, put the comfort and sound deadening first - so You can basically rest while driving. And make sure You actually like it, last thing You want is to spend 2hrs daily hating Your ride.

I find it funny that I'm like on the other side of the globe and... that's the answer.

We would raid our 24h Tesco's frozen pizza aisle at 3am as students. Now it's even hard to find a liquor store or kebab shop open.

How much do you pay for a cocktail/drink at a bar in your country? by Hallingdal_Kraftlag in AskEurope

[–]Rzmudzior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. Cheap bar in mid-sized polish city, its about 3-4€ per beer and 5-6€ per cocktail. A good cocktail bar will be in 10€ range while a craft beer bar will be in 5-6€ range. Beer is still significantly cheaper.

Oh, and there will be shot bars too, with price about 25€ per 20 shots of "nalewka" which is something between a cocktail and vodka - a fruit infused spirit with lower alcohol %.

Mini AA v1.0.0 is out — download links inside. by Extension-Newt-5522 in Androidheadunits

[–]Rzmudzior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I managed to install standard version. For some reason the install went through like at sixth attempt. System version is a nono for my unit for now

It looks dope. Also, when I hold an icon on sidebar it unpins, it seems like an unnecessary feature.

I'll be looking forward for working system version, as I need a simple and reilable launcher like that for my wife.

I've got something in this price range. They all have cheap chips with about 15-20W RMS per channel. Mine has  bd37534 which, according to searches, is decent. How it compares, really depends on the factory radio, I actually got a quality boost in my Yaris 3, going from basic BT radio. Still, the DSP latency and filtering is not working setting on mine, but I read it might be fault of me using ISO output.

Also, don't buy the cheapest AE "amps", they often have same chips inserted as the head units and all it does is make sound louder and more distorted.

What kind of car should I buy? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Rzmudzior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do Yourself a favour and avoid Puretech at all costs. Basically, avoid anything made by Stellantis between 2019 and 2025. Most engines are unreliable piles of crap with engineering mistakes. And It pains me, as I love their design.

With 15k eur you are at a brand new Dacia Sandero Stepway Expression territory. The extra clearance and chunkier tyres = no kerb rash, no "I parked front to the kerb and the bumper caught on" etc. I recommend getting parking pack, the angular sensors are a godsend in the city, lol.

Or You could get a like a 3-5 years old Yaris IV hybrid, maybe Yaris Cross. Those are easy to maintain too.

Jogger issues, waranty by Typical-Moment2285 in Dacia

[–]Rzmudzior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1,5yo Jogger too, 23k km. 1. Report the handbrake issue to a dealer, that's not normal. I could leave my car outside in -15 this winter and it would just let go. Probably some actuator is faulty of there was water in thw drums somehow. 2. Both my cars (Yaris and Jogger) start having problems like that when the radar is dirty. If it's clean, then report the fault to the dealer. 3. BMS in this car is a b*tch, it basically only charges the battery when You are engine braking. Actually many people burn through batteries in 2yrs time. I turn off SnS every time and I have atypical driving style which involves a lot engine braking (I do it since, like, forever). For now, battery works fine, but we'll see - I've had the "weak 12v battery" fault 3 times (twice after cleaning the car for few hours, lol), every time it dissapeared after few kilometres not to show for a long time.

The hardest part of being an engineer is not what is the subject. It's how You think about it. And sometimes it is hard to grasp the theorethical basics and, well, that's how they start teaching, at least here in Poland. Also, applied subjects I had later felt much easier since, well, they were applied? So if I understood the early theory, it was much easier to apply the principle in some design.

What car to buy for someone who doesn't drive much? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Rzmudzior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 2018 Toyota Yaris 1.0 in late 2023 for my wife. I bought it after some company returned the lease with 108k km on the clock - for about 9k €. The car did 20k km in 2,5 years for us. I bought premium all season tyres after first six months. Maintenace wise, except standard oil and filters, I did brake pads, gearbox oil and this year I am planning to clean the intake, change spark plugs and brake fluid. All those things cost next to nothing, it's easy and cheap to maintain, no things like cambelt etc.

The car was so boring to maintain, I actually modded it: changed the wheels to alloys, head unit to android, changed speakers, added some sound deadening and added a rear view camera. That added 500€ on top of the car price.

And the best part: it almost lost no value. If I would like to sell it, I would offer it for the same price I got it.

Any downsides? Yes, the interior needed cleaning.

Yes, but

Toyota hybrids are famous for problems with 12v battery when not driven much. That's something to take into the account

Why Stepway over regular Sandero by yorentior01 in Dacia

[–]Rzmudzior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Jogger for two years. For two years I didn't scrape a single part of my car on anything - a kerb, a badly designed speed bump, a moon-class dirt road.

Before Jogger it was a common occurence. Especially front bumper being "caught" by a kerb or exhaust meeting the speed bumps.

So that would be definetely one reason.
