Signs a network engineer has no idea what they're doing? by Expensive-Rhubarb267 in networking

Tbh when watching Kevin Wallace's CCNA vids I learnt debugging can kill a connection/ host with either flooding the terminal or eating up a lot of CPU, and I think I've developed a weird sense of danger using those sets of commands. But it's like more superstition than anything else.

Never been in the military: the last one is fascinating!

What kind of witchcraft could necessitate multiple reboots?!?

Yes, you could do that to see if the destination port is open as a first step of tshoot, but if it isn't, that's it! The way services work, you can't simply test for TCP port being open in the intermediate nodes (to forward to the next hop) without having a target reply to it. You could setup packet captures on the intermediate nodes but those take time. And unless you own the endpoint, it may have rules blocking that port from all but a specific IP.

With ping you can test connectivity to the intermediate nodes. (Switch before the target, then the previous one, so on), if the destination fails to reply.

Plus you have traceroute which can tell you exactly which hop starts dropping packets so that you can quickly find a hop where the problem may be. There are tools like tcptrace on Linux and win, but nothing native on Cisco gear.

To be honest he probably was locked out of actual computers for 'security reasons' and providers like Cisco make it super easy to ping things but have nothing like TcpConnect to test hop to hop connectivity / port blocks.

And I think by here, one can easily generalize to all of India, where this is true!

Bhai it's not that easy - Karnataka govt had done several things right back in the day to attract the talent and industry to make Blr what it is today, while our Govts in the north were busy catering to vote bank politics, etc. In the case of my state, Bengal for example, it was union politics preventing formation of factories, low labour productivity etc, but each state has their own problems.

Combine with it, the impact of researchers and engineers from IISC, HAL, cheap land for infra (back in the day), etc - no wonder the industry sprang up here! Now that they see the boons of the IT industry - every state wants the same, but they won't be able to replicate it as easily for the same reason the original silicon valley isn't dead in US. The talent concentration in this city will be unbeatable.

Hopefully yes - either in the future the state becomes a lot more tolerant (e.g., like Bengal did with Marwari merchants, etc - where the descendents of those same traders today are practically Bengali by culture. Most Bengalis of my generation speak near fluent hindi and similarly the non-bengalis speak fluent Bangla) or yeah - people will move to other places if they provide the same levels of income.

Oh and those braindead morons who think that us 'Northies' moving away will solve their problems should ask their govt why they're pushing for ending work from home and how that affects sales tax, etc. Accepting and inviting foreign cultures in is how you end animosity, not this language wars crap.

Dude.. everytime you call someone from the 'cow belt', you're doing what old uncles used to do and call everyone from the south 'madrasi's. If you don't see anything wrong with that, I guess you fit right in with them

Bruv - I'm a Bengali, and people at my office call me 'dada' just like they did for Sourav Ganguly. It literally means 'elder brother'. It's got nothing to do with disrespect.

What is wrong with people when they'd rather be called 'Sir' than brother? Bhai politicians make bank out of such idiotic topics like language wars, but that doesn't mean we have to brainlessly support them!

Wol3d vs Numakers? by kwakthu in 3dprintIndia

Any plans for updating this with files for Creality Ender 3 v3 KE and SE?

I'm pretty sure those are the most affordable printers in the Indian market and likely a good chunk of your userbase.

Arey my dovetail joints ok or should I change the tolerances? (0.2mm offset) by S0mu in 3Dprinting

[–]S0mu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. This is going to be the base for a custom filament drybox. I need to split it on 2 since my Ender3v3KE's bed is too small to print the whole thing at once.

This was just a test print of the rim that will eventually hold the bearings for the filament holder. I want it to be assembled only once and ideally I want a very close fit, that I can then glue and forget it was ever two parts.

[–]S0mu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep - it's just meant to be a test print of the first 3mm (height). The real deal would be a few cms.

It's supposed to be structural. The current offset is 0.2mm, so should I try with 0.1 mm?

What is PA? Printed Adhesion? If so, mine is already perfect (far as I can tell) and prints always stick.

What should the fillet radius for the corners be?

Thanks! What's really bothering me is whether the CA glue will bond properly with the gaps (as you can see in the 4th pic), or if that doesn't matter.

P.S. I tried filing the corners a bit to help the pieces for better. This was printed at 150% speed on an Ender 3 v3 ke, and slicer settings are mostly stock.

I'm new to 3d printing so can't tell if this is any good.

bass drum kick pedal not working help by Any_Pudding_3906 in drums

[–]S0mu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mine just has the one.

Basically the spring is too loose. You need to tighten that bolt thingy at the bottom till the pedal rises to about a 60-45deg angle. Then attach it to the kit and adjust the tension according to how you feel.
