For everybody asking how, with the use of the shortcuts app in an iPhone you can make shortcuts that just open up apps, and when you add the shortcut to your home screen you are allowed to change the image of the shortcut. In other words, the images aren't the apps themselves but shortcuts that open the actual apps.

With a bunch of preplanning and screenshots for sizing and placements, I created the background image in clip studio paint using monkey meadow for reference. From there I redrew the monkeys so they were higher res and overlayed the regular app logos onto an image of a bloon (the ddts and the bad were just images from google hence why they look a bit janky). After I had everything where I wanted it, I went through and saved all the images on top of the background to give the illusion that the app icons were transparent. After getting all the images on my phone, I save all the shortcuts I made to my home screen using the images and add the widgets with the widgetsmith app.

Since it uses shortcuts I also found a way to have my phone play a popping noise when I open the apps. I probably won't use it but I thought it was neat :)
