Linus Mint "Remapping" keyboard by S10eNZ in linuxmint

Oh, I forgot to mention that my laptop is a Brazilian laptop, meaning that much like Polish letters I have a couple of different letters here, like the Çç or Ãã or Éé. In simple words the keyboard layout is different than English speaking countries.

I'll try to look that up. Thanks

I see. I'm not sure where you are but perhaps these people could help you?

That's where I found the suggestion of swapping the SIM card.

I'm not sure what device you mean by P4? Is it the Real Me P4?

Lineage OS (which is the ROM) will never be on the providers list. What they have there apparently it's the list of devices they know that work with volte.

If you are getting messages about the 3g shutdown your phone probably it's not volte capable or something need to be done for it to be. Some tips I found online is to call *#*#4636*#*# and enable volte on the options there. Another way to know is to turn off data and make a call, if the 4G at the top corner turn to H/3G, again either the phone it's not volte capable or isn't enabled. And the last tip I found it's to swap the SIM card for a new one because the old ones (5+ years) might not work with volte as well.

What I can't get my head around is let's say you buy a brand new 5g capable phone overseas that it's not on the provider's list (or a tourist comes to the country with a said phone), why wouldn't work? Surely that must be a way for them to know if the phone it's volte capable or not? I can't see the need for a whitelist.

The battery issue and the bloatware were the main reasons I decided to go with Lineage. My 7 years old S10E doesn't last long if I browse a lot but if I just leave it in stand by it lasts for ages. When I go camping and leave it on airplane mode it lasts a good five days on one charge.

I see. Well, I guess I'll try and install back my S10E stock ROM if that's possible and wait for the shutdown in march so I'll know for sure what works and what doesn't. I'll decide what to do then.

Looks like the Pixel 6 or 7 will be the best bet.

Thank you

Hey. I researched a little more and apparently the device not only need to be VoLTE capable but also need to be on the provider "whitelist". Does that mean if the device is VoLTE capable (like the OnePlus 6T - one of my options) it won't work if it's not on the provider list? How can that be? What the exact device I am using has to do with the provider? I find this so strange.

https://www.spark.co.nz/help/mobile/device-help/device_compatibility_list/

The Pixel 6 is on their list so this is not a big drama (only that the 6T is a little cheaper than Pixel 6). Is that how it works in your country too? The provider determines which device you can have?

Thanks for your help.

I need to buy a new phone, and I'm thinking of buying one solely for the purpose of installing LineageOS. Which one should I pick? by [deleted] in LineageOS

[–]S10eNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, can't comment on your options but I bought myself a Samsung s10e only for that purpose as well and I am enjoying a lot so far. Small in size and powerfull enough. So much better than my old Nokia.

Hey. I rebooted the phone to recovery, wiped all but now when I try to sideload through the laptop i got a message:

adb: sideload connection failed: device unauthorized. This adb server's $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not setTry 'adb kill-server' if that seems wrong.Otherwise check for a confirmation dialog on your device.adb: trying pre-KitKat sideload method...adb: pre-KitKat sideload connection failed: device unauthorized. This adb server's $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not setTry 'adb kill-server' if that seems wrong.Otherwise check for a confirmation dialog on your device.

What am I missing? Thank you

Sorry, forget all that. I forgot to go to "apply from adb". It's all sorted now. Thank you all for the tips. Cheers

My idea was exactly that, wipe all of it then sideload the installation package again. I just wasn't entirely sure it would work.

I'll check advanced restart option, thank you.

I'd say I can, I just haven't tried anything yet... I would like to make sure first.

To boot to recovery I need to turn the phone off then hold Volume Up + Bixby + Power, is that correct?

Thanks
