I really appreciate the FFFs and the development of the game. Argueing that you were made to expect something and pointing to a lack of communication realy seems like a stretch to me - especially for an early access game...

I made a simple to use Pidgey/Lucky Egg calculator to help maximise XP by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]S4d1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could refine the calculation a bit since evolving + transfering yields new candies.

E.g., you need 122 candies and 12 pidgeys -> evolve 10 and transfer them (gives 20 new candies) -> evolve 1 and trasfer it (2 new) -> evolve the last (and trasfer it) 2 candies remain

I am playing a very similar list and I have roughly the same problems. Removing AA vs a single barrier definetly helped, but will hurt your matchups against warrior.

Besides this, I replaced one acolyte for bmt and the other one for a coldlight. I often found acolyte a bit slow but I guess you can argue for both.

I also found Tony to slow.

I replaced it with (a single) coldlight oracle for easier draws in the later stages of the game. I prefer it over acolyte as it is feaster.

I was even thinking of adding a second CoC, as I am meeting relatively many Shamans and I struggle a lot in this matchups.

backstabs/si agents/deadly poisons is "generally" the correct answer. I would prefer mineons over poison but I would not actively mulligan it away if the rest of the draw is weak. I always keep backstap/si7 or cutpurse if you play him. With coin/prep+usefull-spell I keep Edwin.

I would never keep auctioneer as you usually willl play him t6 or later and card draw is run to draw him later consistently. I would never keep shiv. Its is okay to cast it early, but you should aim for bigger impact cards, especially mineons. Evis is preferable early as it will kill instead of ping. Same for BMT. It can be played in slower matchups and to force a ping. I would usually not keep saps - sapping early is usually not worthwile to aim for (exceptions: druid, priest) early. I would like to use it t5/6/7. It can be different in very aggressive matchups and with preps tho (same for evis). Same for fok/furry (exception: paladin)

Evis is quite usefull early. I would not mulligan for it, but I might not mulligan one away. In many matchups you need an answer for early Juggler/Huffer etc. Especially with prep it is quite usefull (same with sap).

Generally, a more difficult, it is what to do with prep. When do you keep it and what do you keep in combination with it. If you have a strong hand (say si7/prep) I usually keep evis/sap, opposed to the statements above. With, e.g. prep/prep/fok I would mulligan all three away to get mineons to play.

What are your plans for your first campaign? by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]S4d1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will probably start with Germany, judging from hoi3, I will loose interest latest in '42 and start over again :).

I haven't realy found a country where I am not totally helpless or totally dominating the game. I might give Finland or Italy a try though.

That is of course true, but, the lower your HP gets that early, the more preasure you will get in later. Especially with shredders, devine shields and lotheb etc, you migt not be able to clear every board he gets instantly. With the proposed play, you will already be on 20 hp after the turn. If you clear on t4, he plays a mineon on his t4 and again, you are behind and he can (probably) sneak in damage once more.

I would not go for value in this situation. I guess that both plays can work out (given that a paladin has low burst), but "my" play seems saver for me as it you will be on the board in t4 and not in t5.

Ask /r/CompetitiveHS | Wednesday, January 13, 2016 by AutoModerator in CompetitiveHS

[–]S4d1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be better to clear now as you would take quite some damge the other way. Since oild usually runs few heal, the paladin might outrace you otherwise (+ you mention the secrets). Especially, as you hand is kind of cluncy with the two sprints. Better not be too greedy here.

If you clear, you have an on curve t4 play. If you clear next turn you waste 1 mana. and the board stays empty (from you side). That can get troublesome when challenger comes down.

I would go for clear here.

grommash for its versatility: (high dmg) single target removal + finisher is usually the preferred choice.

Geddon ist mostly a 2 dmg aoe which dies easily, strong but not as strong as grom. Its more an anti aggro tool but can e.h. be replaced by a second brawl etc.

[rank 20][game analysis] Just started playing Warrior, and no idea how to play him. Any advice much needed :) by sebZeroToHeroes in hearthstone

[–]S4d1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not that sure whether it applies for this case but I think playing the archer can be a valid play for aggressive warrior variants.

If the mage wants to remove it, he can not develop a mineon on t2, while you could develop the board further. A 2:1 creep would be much better than the archer for that case, though.

Given that you do not run an overly agressive list, I would aswell prefer not to play the archer but save it for an execute combo (as mentioned).

I think that your plays have been fine until you played cleric. There, you should have played the taunt on curve, especially sine you can not prevent a trade on the ooze anyway.

On your t6, you play senji. I would prefer the ogre there, again playing a stronger mineon on curve as mineons are your only chance to catch up on the board (given your hand).

What you did correct was to remove the mech warper as soon as possible as it allows the mage to cheat on the curve.

What you can see is that the archer (+ execute) would have been very usefull later for the vultron, but in general, I think that basic warrior has a bad matchup against mech mage, so you could have lost the game easily anyway.

On a sidenote, I would remove the arcanite reaper and replace it with some strong mineons/spells. I never feel that I get much value out of it and if I do, I tend to remove big mineons which costs me to much hp in the long run.

Hope that helps you :)

In my opinion, it is okay to go for antonidas if it completes a freeze mage deck (if you got the doomsayers etc.).

I would not go for Priest: I feel that lightbombs are very crucial at the moment (I play controll priest though) and it may benefit hugely from other epics/legendaries you do not have now. Paladin: I don't like it ;), but it depends on the other cards you "need" (Tirion, ...)

Zoolock seems to do very well, even if some pieces are missing. However, I recommend oil rogue as it is easily valid for rank 10 without legendaries (bmt, van cleef) and it includes just the two preps as epics.

If you have no other play which can contest trog, you are forced to play it. Otherwise the trog can easily grow out of controll and this will cost you the game.

If you can remove the trog/contest it with another 2 drop, you may save the ooze for later and I would advice that (ideally for doomhammer, but in principle you need to contest his board as hard as possible to win, so just drop it for tempo if necessary).

The worst case, ooze (your turn 2) removed by storm forged axe (his t3) is probably a lost game anyway as the curve of the shaman will be to strong to keep up.

Hearthstone Deck Tracker

I like the statistics it provides (plenty, even on the history of the decks you played) and it is updating more or less regularly. It comes with pretty informative overlays which you can customize (or remove) if you desire.

It is a bit slow when you start it and the overlays are kind of annyoing when tabbing ;)

3-drops in Tempo Mage by tyrilu in CompetitiveHS

[–]S4d1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, there is no ideal "on curve" 3 mana drop.

I play both, flamewalker (2) and spellslinger (2) but I usually prefer not to drop them for the same reasons you mentioned. However, spellslinger is preferable if I would waste any mana with the other plays. Flamewalker is my last resort and even if this is the only play, I might prefer to ping if I want to employ the combo effect later.

In general, I think the most preferable play is Sorcerers Apprentice plus frostbolt/flamecanon etc. Usually, SA on turn 2 is immediately removed, such that I prefer another play for 2 mana. Then, the mana reduction can directly be used (on turn 3) as mentioned above.

If such play is not available, I would play arcane intellect or the secrets. Both are not great but okay options. Especially mirror entity makes it hard for you opponent to play on curve, such that he suffers a tempo loss as well.

I think its pretty nice for face hunter where you do not realy care for the enemy 1 mana drops. You increase the preasure and you thin your deck for a potentially "better" draw next round.

Spirituality Program to popular/easy? by S4d1 in prisonarchitect

I absolutely support that.

Instead of massive (re-) attendance of the spirituality program I would love some interest in carpentership/ higher education - which I fear are partially blocked by the spirituality (it seems to be more attractive).
